Chapter 94: I Made the Arrangements Myself.

Faced with the Grandmatriarch’s hard line and Jiang Yingxia’s relentless pressure, a deep sense of powerlessness swept over Su Rulan in an instant.

She had once believed that, after this matter, the Grandmatriarch would soften and that they might truly come to understand one another anew. But in the end, it had all been a wasted effort.

Just as the Grandmatriarch had said, even if the Capital Consortium was no force to be underestimated, in a situation where two great powers were joining hands, it would never again act as it had before.

“Is there really no room for discussion?” Su Rulan pleaded humbly.

Jiang Yingxia held her breath, her tone easing slightly as she said, “There truly isn’t much room to negotiate. After all, this involves the Ye family; there are far too many ties at stake here.”

“If you are sincere, then you should choose to make things complete, not keep deadlocking like this. Otherwise, it will do no one any good.”

“I am Tianlin’s mother. I do not want his future to be ruined like this, so I advise you to decide as soon as possible!”

The Grandmatriarch sat in her chair, both hands resting on her cane. She nodded and went on, “That’s right. If you keep delaying and refuse to decide, then you should know very well what will happen next. As long as you agree, I can give you any benefit you want and let you live peacefully and comfortably!”

Hearing this, Su Rulan could not help but tremble inwardly. Though five years of love were not so easy to cut away, she could not be so selfish as to disregard Ye Tianlin’s future entirely.

It was plain enough: if she refused today, the Grandmatriarch would certainly not let it rest afterward. She would surely mobilize every resource at her disposal, including the cooperation with the Hong family overseas, to turn around and put pressure on the Capital Consortium!

By then, this hard-won job would vanish into thin air, and she might even be forced once again into a dead end.

At that moment, Su Rulan’s eyes reddened, and at last her heart began to waver.

“I do not want your benefits. I only ask that after I leave Tianlin, you will treat him well,” Su Rulan said again, bowing her head as tears fell.

The Grandmatriarch and Jiang Yingxia exchanged a few glances, delight blooming in their hearts. They thought to themselves that this cooperation with the Hong family overseas had indeed become a tremendous help.

Just then, however, the door to the ward was suddenly pushed open.

Ye Tianlin entered from outside with an expression as cold as frost. He strode straight in, reached out to support Su Rulan, and fixed the Grandmatriarch with a frigid stare.

“Grandma, I heard everything just now,” he said.

“So you heard it. Then surely you understand now who has the final say here, don’t you? Do you really think you still have the standing to summon the Capital Consortium? You should know the Hong family overseas is no weak opponent either!” the Grandmatriarch replied with complete confidence.

Jiang Yingxia hurriedly tried to mediate. “Tianlin, Su Rulan has already agreed. Don’t argue with your grandmother anymore. Besides, this really is the best ending. You and Su Rulan can part on good terms.”

“How can you say that so lightly? If I truly just walked away like this, I would not only be letting Su Rulan down, but I would also be letting down the child who has not yet been born!” Ye Tianlin’s anger surged through every inch of him.

“Tianlin, your mother is right. I really have held you back. Though I do not want things to be this way, for your sake, it is right for me to leave,” Su Rulan said through clenched teeth.

The Grandmatriarch raised a hand, pointed at Su Rulan, and smiled. “I believe you understand now. Even Su Rulan herself does not think you have the ability to turn things around. Do you still think it is necessary to keep being stubborn in front of me?”

Ye Tianlin gripped Su Rulan’s hand tightly and looked directly at the Grandmatriarch. Unable to suppress himself any longer, he said, “Have you ever seriously considered why, the moment the Capital Consortium stopped acting, the cooperation with the Hong family overseas immediately arrived? Do you really think that was just a coincidence?”

“What do you mean by that?” the Grandmatriarch asked, slightly taken aback.

“Rulan still does not understand many things, and neither do all of you. In truth, I had already anticipated that you might not yield so easily. That is why I prepared this move long ago. The cooperation with the Hong family overseas was arranged by me personally, solely to make sure you would shut your mouth for good!” Ye Tianlin said in a low voice.

As soon as the words fell, the Grandmatriarch and Jiang Yingxia were both stunned, their minds buzzing.

But very quickly, the Grandmatriarch recovered. She let out a sneer and said, “At a time like this, you are still clinging to your pride and pretending to be strong?”

Jiang Yingxia wore a strange expression as she said, “Tianlin, you really are forcing yourself too much. No one would believe such a thing if you said it aloud. How could the Hong family overseas possibly be under your arrangement?”
