Chapter 86: Ye Tianlin Everywhere
As Zhao Shanhe pushed the door open and entered, Chen Zhigang made a snap decision and immediately began to exaggerate the situation, adopting an indignant and righteous demeanor.
Previously, at the Yunhai Chamber of Commerce, Ye Tianlin had humiliated him in front of so many people, not only slapping him hard in the face but also firing him on the spot. It was an utter disgrace. Now, faced with such a golden opportunity, there was no way Chen Zhigang would let it slip by.
“President Zhao, this Ye Tianlin fellow has absolutely no respect for our Tiandu Chamber of Commerce. He’s not here to negotiate business at all—he’s here to boss us around! Our Tiandu Chamber is, after all, under the Ye family banner. Even if the Yunhai Chamber is backed by a capital consortium from the capital, we aren’t some pushover to be toyed with. Besides, this isn’t Ye Tianlin’s home—what right does he have to put on airs here? You must stand up for the dignity of the Tiandu Chamber!”
Chen Zhigang spoke on and on, sounding thoroughly justified.
When Zhao Shanhe finally stopped in front of Ye Tianlin, Chen Zhigang’s heart leapt with joy. He thought to himself that Ye Tianlin was truly overestimating himself by coming here to make trouble. President Zhao was no one to trifle with!
Yet before Chen Zhigang could relish his schadenfreude, Zhao Shanhe suddenly bowed deeply and, with a tone of urgent entreaty, said, “Young Master, you may sign the contract however you wish. As long as it pleases you, nothing else matters. All we ask is that you notify the Capital Consortium and have them resume normal cooperation at once!”
At these words, Chen Zhigang felt as if he had been struck by lightning, his eyes bulging in disbelief.
“Young—Young Master… President Zhao, did you just call him ‘Young Master’?” Chen Zhigang’s face visibly turned a sickly shade of pale yellow.
Zhao Shanhe shot him a cold glare over his shoulder. “The man sitting before you is the Young Master of the Ye family. What nonsense have you been spouting? The Young Master can sign however he likes—it’s none of your concern. Get out, and don’t come back!”
“So this really is his home?” Chen Zhigang’s breath caught, and he stumbled backward, collapsing to the floor in terror, his scalp tingling with dread.
He could never have imagined, even in his wildest dreams, that Su Rulan’s husband would have such a formidable background.
Only now did Chen Zhigang finally realize why Ye Tianlin had wielded such authority at the Yunhai Chamber of Commerce—it was all because of his identity as the Ye family’s Young Master.
What was most unbelievable to Chen Zhigang was that on his very first day on the job—less than half an hour in—he had thought he could soar to new heights, only to find himself entangled in such a disaster.
Ye Tianlin said coolly, “You’re right. In a way, this is indeed my home. I warned you earlier to sign the contract while you could. You brought this upon yourself by refusing to listen.”
Chen Zhigang scrambled to his feet in a panic, stammering, “I—I—I didn’t know your identity! If I’d known, even if I had a hundred times the courage, I wouldn’t have dared speak to you that way. Please, Young Master Ye, have mercy. Don’t let the Tiandu Chamber fire me, I beg you!”
“It’s best that you are dismissed,” Ye Tianlin replied, just as he had at the Yunhai Chamber. “Aside from the workplace, I don’t wish to see people I dislike in my own home.”
“I truly didn’t mean to offend—I know I was wrong! To be fired on my first day will forever stain my record!” Chen Zhigang was now utterly terrified, pleading desperately.
Zhao Shanhe’s expression was one of impatience. “Did you not hear me? I told you to leave immediately. Or do you want me to call security to throw you out?”
Chen Zhigang shrank back and immediately fell silent, his face the picture of misery, his whole demeanor one of utter defeat.
After hesitating for half a minute, Chen Zhigang finally had no choice but to turn and leave, cursing his misfortune—fired from the Yunhai Chamber, now fired again from the Tiandu Chamber, and everywhere he went, it was Ye Tianlin!
Soon, Chen Zhigang left the meeting room dejectedly.
Zhao Shanhe steadied himself and bowed once more, entreating, “Young Master, the Old Madam is deeply troubled by the situation with the Capital Consortium. I know you disapprove of her actions, but she is still your grandmother—your elder.”
“Is this how an elder should act?” Ye Tianlin’s gaze turned icy. “She insists on deciding everything, refusing to listen to anyone else. Su Rulan has suffered so much for me, even enduring being slapped while pregnant. If you were in my place, could you bear it?”
Zhao Shanhe was at a loss for words, his face awkward, and he had to change the subject. “Young Master, let’s set aside the business for now—the contract can wait. The Old Madam is waiting for you upstairs. Why not come up with me, and we’ll talk things over face to face?”
Ye Tianlin replied coldly, “If she knows I’m here, why should I be the one to go up? Why doesn’t she come down herself?”
“Don’t think I am still the Ye Tianlin she could always keep under her thumb!”
“Go and tell her I’ll wait here for five minutes. If she doesn’t come down to see me in that time, she can forget about anything else she wants.”
