Chapter 128: Su Rulan Is Discharged from the Hospital

“I’m perfectly healthy. I don’t need an examination!”

“Ye Tianlin must have some unspeakable problem, which is why he’s putting on this act here. After all, he can’t go around telling everyone that he’s the stand-in puppet for the man behind the capital consortium!”

“Anyway, I’ve said my piece. Just wait and see!”

Su Weimin flew into a rage on the spot, cursing and swearing as he fumed, his mustache bristling and his eyes bulging. Then he turned on his heel and stormed out of the ward.

Only after he had left did Gao Yulan smile again. She pulled Ye Tianlin over to sit beside the bed and said happily, “As expected of my wonderful son-in-law. You really are something. It seems Ruolan’s persistence over these past five years was absolutely right!”

“Mom, as long as you don’t let yourself be misled, I’ll be satisfied.” Ye Tianlin gave a bitter laugh. Gao Yulan had never possessed much of a mind of her own; she always believed whatever rumor she heard. As long as she did not make things worse, he would have been grateful enough to burn incense and pray to the gods.

Gao Yulan gently patted the back of his hand. “This time, I’m definitely on your side. I won’t waver again. I’ve made a fool of myself over and over, and I’m embarrassed about it. As for that bastard Su Weimin, he’s obviously talking nonsense and spouting complete lies!”

“I really don’t understand why Dad is always like this.” Su Ruolan sighed helplessly.

“What else could it be?” Gao Yulan said irritably. “Didn’t I just say it? Every one of those people in the Su family is cut from the same cloth. When the upper beam is crooked, the lower beams follow suit. Fortunately, you’re nothing like Su Weimin, Ruolan. Otherwise, we’d be finished!”

“Let’s not dwell on that anymore. At the very least, things are much, much better than before. Besides, Mom, you suffered quite a lot in this accident. I’m afraid you won’t be able to leave the hospital anytime soon. I had originally planned for Ruolan to move straight into the Emerald Bay villa once she was discharged.”

The moment she heard that they would be moving into the Emerald Bay villa, Gao Yulan immediately perked up. She looked as though she could rise from her sickbed at once and check herself out. “There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m not that fragile. I’ll be more or less recovered in another couple of days!”

“Stop making things up,” Su Ruolan said, half amused and half exasperated. “The doctor personally instructed you to stay in the hospital for at least half a month. Just rest here and recover properly. I, on the other hand, can be discharged now!”

Gao Yulan pouted, but in the end she could only swallow her protest. She bitterly regretted that she could not move into the Emerald Bay villa immediately, slap the Su family hard in the face, and show off to her heart’s content.

“Ruolan, are you sure you want to leave the hospital?” Ye Tianlin asked with concern.

Su Ruolan nodded with unusual seriousness. “I’ve recovered a lot over the past few days. And so many things happened while I was hospitalized that I actually feel much better mentally than I did before!”

Ye Tianlin thought for a moment before agreeing. With a smile, he said, “It’s already late at night. Let’s handle the discharge procedures tomorrow. Then we’ll take another day off to move. We’ll move in first, and when Mom is discharged, she can join us.”

“Good!” Su Ruolan beamed.

Before long, the next day arrived.

After completing the procedures without a hitch, Su Ruolan was finally discharged.

Since Gao Yulan had made it clear she did not want him around, Su Weimin simply came along as well.

When they returned to the apartment complex they had been renting, they loaded many important belongings into the trunk of their old car. Just as they were nearly ready to leave, Su Weimin stood in front of the car with a dejected expression.

“Dad, we’ve finished loading everything that needs to be moved. Why are you still standing there?” Su Ruolan asked in surprise.

Su Weimin’s face twisted into a miserable grimace. “My Range Rover had only been driven for a few days, and it was already wrecked beyond repair. Now I have to come back to drive this piece of junk again. I…”

“Why don’t you be quiet for once? If you hadn’t been distracted while driving and smashed the car to pieces, Mom wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital. You should be grateful she survived!” Su Ruolan said.

The corner of Su Weimin’s eye twitched several times. “But this car is far too shabby. It’s humiliating to drive it around now. I’m about to become a resident of Emerald Bay Villa, after all. If the other homeowners see me looking this poor, how am I supposed to hold my head up? It’s such an upscale neighborhood that even the security guards will probably think I make my living collecting garbage!”

“Pride will only make you suffer. I’m not indulging you this time. Don’t even dream of getting me to buy you a new car. If you refuse to drive this one, then walk everywhere from now on!”

Furious, Su Ruolan finished speaking and pulled Ye Tianlin toward the car. Together, they opened the doors and got inside.

Su Weimin gritted his teeth. With no choice but to swallow his pride, he stamped his feet and climbed in to drive, his pent-up frustration with nowhere to go.

After roughly ten minutes on the road, the car finally arrived at Emerald Bay Villa.

The entire villa district was built on a grand scale, exuding the air of wealth from every corner. Even the security guards at the entrance stood as straight as spears, their eyes fixed forward.

As Su Weimin drove through, he took in the surroundings, waves of emotion rising in his heart. He had never imagined in his entire life that he might one day live in a place of this caliber.

Following Ye Tianlin’s directions, they eventually reached the most privileged area of the development. A vast hillside villa came into view, standing out like a crane among chickens and forming the most spectacular sight in all of Emerald Bay.

What shocked Su Weimin most of all was the number on the entrance.

Strangely, however, the gates of Villa Number One stood wide open, as if someone were already inside.

After getting out of the car, Su Ruolan stared blankly at the open gate. “What’s going on? Who’s inside?”

“Could we have been robbed? I haven’t even moved in yet. How dare someone else get inside and make a mess? I’ll drag the thief out and beat him senseless!”

Su Weimin reacted with exaggerated alarm. He rolled up his sleeves and was about to charge inside.

Ye Tianlin reached out and stopped him. Calmly, he said, “The security in Emerald Bay isn’t as poor as you imagine. Someone who can get a key from the property management and open the gate so openly is most likely the Old Madam.”

“The Old… Old Madam?” Su Weimin’s neck shrank, and he immediately lost his nerve.
