"You're all well aware of Tianlin's condition, yet whenever you come home after being wronged outside, you take it out on him. Is that really the way elders ought to behave?"

"I don't care what you think—Tianlin will always be my husband. No one will drive him away. If anyone even tries, I'd rather die all over again!"

Su Rulan's chest heaved as she clung tightly to Ye Tianlin's arm, her words resolute.

Faced with her stance, Su Weimin immediately lost his bluster and waved his hand dismissively. "I was just saying, no need to get all worked up. It's not like I really meant to chase him out."

"Yes, yes, Rulan, please don't get upset, or it might affect your pregnancy," Gao Yulan added, not daring to provoke further and lowering her head in resignation, though her heart remained full of aversion towards Ye Tianlin.

Su Rulan couldn't be bothered to argue further. She simply pulled Ye Tianlin into the bedroom, closed the door, and locked it behind them. Retrieving the invitation letter from earlier, she casually set it in a corner before turning to him. "Tianlin, next time I go for my prenatal checkup, why don't you come with me for a checkup of your own?"

"You want me to get a checkup?" Ye Tianlin gave a wry smile.

Su Rulan nodded. "You've been running off lately, and I worry something might happen to you. If you get checked out and listen to the doctor's advice, it would put my mind at ease."

Ye Tianlin thought for a moment and realized it could be a good opportunity. Once Su Rulan saw the results with her own eyes, she would have no further doubts. "Alright," he agreed, "I promise the results will be a pleasant surprise."

That made Su Rulan quietly relieved. She hadn't expected him to agree so easily—every other time she'd tried to take Ye Tianlin to the hospital, he'd refused outright.

"Rulan, take this bank card." Ye Tianlin reached into his pocket and handed her a card.

It was the very same card as before: jet black, rimmed with golden patterns, its design utterly unique.

Su Rulan examined it closely. She'd never seen a bank card like it in circulation, but she remembered clearly—last time Ye Tianlin produced this card, he had claimed it contained a full billion.

Yet, later on, Su Weimin had dismissed it as a toy and snapped it in two.

Ye Tianlin explained, "When I went out today, besides picking up the invitation from Tianlan Group for you, I also stopped by the bank and had this card reissued."

"I didn't get to explain last time—aside from having a billion in deposits, this card also allows overdrafts up to ten billion. So you needn't worry! Any overdraft will be settled by the Ye family estate!"

After hearing this, Su Rulan felt the world spinning.

The invitation from Tianlan Group was shocking enough. Now Ye Tianlin was presenting a bank card that not only held a billion but could be overdrawn by ten billion?

It was utterly inconceivable—beyond belief.

A billion—what did that even mean? And an overdraft of ten billion? That was pure fantasy, more absurd than anything that had come before.

Yet, when Su Rulan looked up and met Ye Tianlin's unwavering gaze, she couldn't bring herself to question him. She nodded and accepted the card.

Ye Tianlin drew a deep breath. "Darling, I know it's hard to believe, but that's alright. When the day comes that you need this money, you'll understand my intentions."

Su Rulan reached out to embrace him, resting her cheek on his shoulder as tears slid down her face. Choking back sobs, she whispered, "Whether it's true or not doesn't matter anymore. What matters to me is your kindness, your care for me."

"I'm sorry, my love," Ye Tianlin murmured, his heart aching. "These five years have brought you so much pain. I've tried my best to make it up to you, but lately I've realized—no matter how hard I try, it will never be enough."

Su Rulan wiped her tears. "Honestly, these days I can barely tell what's true about your illness anymore. But it doesn't matter. You don't owe me anything. Like I've said before, everything I've done was of my own free will."

...

The next day.

As usual, Su Rulan left for work, driving Su Weimin's car with Gao Yulan in tow.

Su Weimin, meanwhile, happened to have the day off—a rare chance to rest. Early in the morning, he moved a chair onto the balcony, crossed his legs, and sipped tea, savoring the leisure.

Ye Tianlin walked over and spoke, "Dad, would you come out with me today?"

Su Weimin grunted. "What are you up to now? I finally get a day off and you want me running around? You have no idea how exhausting it is to scrub toilets—my back is about to give out!"

Ye Tianlin gestured. "Weren't you always complaining that your cousin and his son drive Range Rovers and BMWs, while you have nothing?"

"So what if I do? We can't compare with them. Sure, it stings, but I know my place," Su Weimin replied, though envy and resentment still gnawed at him, making even the strongest tea taste bland.

Ye Tianlin smiled meaningfully. "But what if I told you that as long as you come out with me today, your wish could come true?"

Su Weimin stared, surprised, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. "Don't tell me you're planning to..."

"That's right—I'm taking you to buy a car today," Ye Tianlin declared, resolute.
