Chapter 111: Ye Tianlin Is the True Young Master
Su Weimin considered himself the person who knew his son-in-law, Ye Tianlin, best. For the past five years, the man had been entirely dependent on their family for support. Even his current position at the Yunhai Chamber of Commerce was surely just a stroke of blind luck; where would he have acquired any real talent? If it weren't for him, his father-in-law, looking out for him from behind the scenes, who knew how many foolish mistakes the boy would have made, landing himself in a mess of trouble! Most importantly, the Yunhai Chamber of Commerce had already issued notices regarding their performance reviews; if one failed to pass, they would be fired in an instant. There was absolutely no need to shower Ye Tianlin with such absurd praise in front of so many relatives. If anyone deserved that kind of adulation, it was him—the father-in-law. Why was this boy stealing the spotlight?
Straightening his collar, Su Weimin clung to his pride and said, "Enough, enough. I know you all feel guilty, which is why you’re saying these things. After all, no one understands Ye Tianlin better than I do!"
Old Master Su swallowed hard and replied, "Weimin, I think you have many misconceptions. Much like us before, you are actually the one who understands Ye Tianlin the least right now!"
"How could I possibly not understand him?" Su Weimin scoffed, his eyes filled with disdain.
Seeing this, Gao Yulan pulled at Su Weimin’s sleeve, lowering her voice to whisper, "In this setting, show your son-in-law some respect. Don't just keep arguing like this!"
Su Weimin ignored her completely and deliberately raised his voice. "Do I need to show him respect? Am I not speaking the truth?"
"Weimin, it would be best if you didn't act like this in the future, because what you are saying is, in fact, not the truth," Old Master Su said, his expression growing increasingly grave.
The surrounding relatives, witnessing this scene, sensed that something was amiss and began to feel that the situation was far from simple. Sure enough, Su Zhengjun stepped forward, gestured solemnly as if making a formal introduction, and declared, "Su Weimin, how can you be so disrespectful to the Young Master of the Ye family?"
"The man standing before you is the true Young Master of the Ye family!" Su Yicai chimed in, also raising his voice, as if afraid someone might not hear him.
A wave of shock swept through the room. Every relative who had come to attend the birthday celebration was moved upon hearing this news.
Gao Yulan stood frozen, her eyes widening in astonishment. "You’re saying my good son-in-law is actually the Ye family's Young Master? Didn't you all insist before that he wasn't?"
Su Weimin’s expression shifted violently; he was completely caught off guard, his jaw nearly hitting the floor. However, he quickly regained his composure, his gaze suspicious. "Are you all acting again, trying to make things difficult for us on an occasion like this? How could this guy be the Young Master of the Ye family? Didn't we already meet the real Young Master of the Ye family before?"
Old Master Su forced a smile that looked worse than tears. "The one you met before was merely a member of a branch family of the Ye clan, who just happened to share the same name as Ye Tianlin. Because we weren't well-informed, a misunderstanding occurred!"
"I actually learned the truth a long time ago. It was just that fool Su Yicai who kept spouting nonsense, making a complete mess of everything," Su Zhengjun said, curling his lip.
Su Yicai did not dare to deny it and quickly nodded. "Yes, yes, it was all my fault. I kept finding excuses to deny my brother-in-law's identity, but as it turns out, I was just being delusional!"
At this moment, Su Weimin and Gao Yulan were left in a daze, though they still harbored a shred of doubt in their hearts—after all, the Su family was known for their absurd antics; who knew if this was another scheme?
Old Master Su took a deep breath and quickly pulled Su Yixue from the crowd. "If you still don't believe it, let Su Yixue tell you herself who the person marrying into the wealthy family really is!"
As Su Yixue stepped forward, all eyes in the room converged upon her. Feeling the weight of those gazes, Su Yixue looked utterly mortified, yet helpless. Things had reached such a point that no matter how much resentment she felt, there was nothing she could do—because, in the end, it was the truth.
Resigned, Su Yixue gritted her teeth and said, "That's right. From beginning to end, we were mistaken about who the target was. The person destined to marry into a wealthy family was never me, Su Yixue—it was Su Rulan. She is the true Young Mistress. All the bride-price gifts were meant for her. It was my own wishful thinking, my own arrogance, and my own refusal to accept reality!"
"What?" Su Weimin felt as if he had been struck by lightning, his mind reeling with waves of shock.
"So my good son-in-law really is the Young Master of the Ye family? My Rulan is the one destined for wealth?" Gao Yulan felt breathless, and her expression shifted instantly, her eyebrows arching as she danced with joy.
In an instant, the Su villa was in an uproar, as if shaken by an earthquake. Among them, the most shocked of all was Su Weimin.
This son-in-law, whom he had always felt was a disappointment, was actually the illustrious Young Master of the Ye family?! This was nothing short of earth-shattering; it overturned everything he had ever believed about Ye Tianlin!
As he turned his head once more to stare directly at Ye Tianlin, his eyes bulging, he stammered, "Ye Tianlin, this isn't a joke, is it? Could you possibly..."
Finally, Ye Tianlin smiled and offered his response: "Otherwise, why do you think the entire Su family came to the hospital to apologize to us and kept fawning over us? Do you really think... that it was their ancestors appearing in their dreams?"
