Chapter 82: If There's Something to Discuss, It's Better to Talk in the Room

Honored Guest A gentle breeze carries a light rain. 3112 words 2026-03-20 11:44:45

Shen Youlin was terrified, her voice trembling uncontrollably. "Fang Kai, I beg you, please let me go. I'll agree to be your girlfriend, isn't that enough? We can take things slowly. Please don't do this, I'm begging you!"

"Now you know what fear is!" Fang Kai sneered, his face twisted with malice. All the humiliation he had suffered at the hands of Chen Yuyi, and the pain of his broken leg, he now blamed entirely on Shen Youlin. On top of that, she had rejected him time and again, showing no intention of deepening their relationship, clearly wanting to leave him. This time, he was dead set on revenge.

"But it's too late now! Boys, after I've had my fun, you can enjoy yourselves too. Make sure this little girl is begging for mercy!"

The other men were all security guards at Fang Kai's family's idle factory. Usually loafers and small-time thieves, they were willing to do anything for the bit of money Fang Kai paid them. Now, hearing there was money to be made and something extra to enjoy, their eyes gleamed with wicked delight.

"Young Master Fang, rest assured. Once you've had your fill, we'll see to it that she begs for mercy!"

"Take your time, Young Master. We'll keep watch outside for you."

They shared knowing looks, then went to stand guard at the gate.

Shen Youlin was gripped by terror; she truly felt the meaning of the phrase, "Heaven and earth have turned deaf to my cries."

"Fang Kai, if you really dare do this, with the power of the Shen family, we will ensure you come to a bad end!" Pleading was useless, so Shen Youlin tried a threat, though she held only a sliver of hope. Since he dared kidnap her, he must have thought it all through.

Fang Kai laughed smugly. "Oh, I'm so scared! But tell me, who do you think is more powerful: your Shen family or the Lin family of Shangdu?"

"What Lin family?"

"Let me enlighten you. Lin Pojun, the young master of the Lin family in Shangdu, is a guest at my house right now. He even treated my injured leg. Otherwise, how could I be here before you so soon?"

Lin Pojun was indeed still at the Fang residence. After leaving the Jinxiu Manor, feeling guilty for not stopping Chen Yuyi from breaking Fang Kai's leg, he voluntarily went to the Fang family, using his family's healing medicine and internal energy techniques to treat Fang Kai. The Fang family, grateful and eager to curry favor with the prestigious Lin family, invited Lin Pojun to stay under the pretense of convalescence. Having lost to Chen Yuyi, Lin Pojun was in poor spirits and didn't wish to return home immediately, so he stayed.

Fang Kai, with his leg newly crippled, was in no mood for comfort. He had wanted Shen Youlin to come console him, but she had stopped answering his calls, making it clear she intended to leave him. The injustice festered within him. Were it not for her, he never would have crossed paths with Mister Chen.

As for Mister Chen, he knew he could not take his revenge for the time being. But with Lin Pojun at his family's house, he wasn’t afraid of the Shen family. Youthful and reckless, he ignored the consequences, his desire for revenge burning stronger than any concern for his injury.

With a vicious grin, he reached to tear at Shen Youlin's clothes. Suddenly, grunts of pain echoed from outside, and several figures were thrown inside.

He turned his head in shock, but before he could see clearly, an iron grip like an eagle's claw seized his throat.

Despair had consumed Shen Youlin, but this sudden turn of events snapped her back to attention.

She looked down at the bodies sprawled on the ground, her pupils contracting in horror. Blood frothed from their mouths; they appeared dead. Most terrifying of all, each had three bloody holes in their throats, still spurting fresh blood. Shen Youlin nearly screamed in terror.

Fang Kai, his throat clutched, stared in horror at the bald man before him, whose head bore a tattoo of an eagle. He tried to speak, but no words came out.

Jiang Kun glanced at him, then released his grip.

Fang Kai collapsed to the floor, clutching his throat and coughing heavily. Then his eyes fell on the corpses.

His injured leg, wrapped tightly in bandages, gave way beneath him, and he toppled over stiffly.

By now, several men in black had arrived, swiftly surrounding him.

Jiang Kun personally untied Shen Youlin’s bonds. "Second Miss Shen, I apologize for being late and frightening you."

Shen Youlin looked at him and the men in black in surprise. "Are you really here to rescue me?"

"Of course. Leave everything here to us. I’ll have someone escort you home," Jiang Kun replied respectfully. His reverence for Chen Yuyi extended to the Shen family as well, so he dared not be careless.

"Who are you? Why are you helping me? And what will you do with him?" Shen Youlin, relieved, pointed at Fang Kai.

Fang Kai, realizing the gravity of the situation, crawled before Shen Youlin, sobbing, "Youlin, I was wrong. Please ask them to spare me!"

Shen Youlin glanced uncertainly at Jiang Kun. "You're not going to kill him too, are you?" As despicable as Fang Kai was, he was still a human life. The deaths she had already witnessed were almost too much for her to bear.

"Don't worry, Miss Shen. We have no intention of killing him, for now. But he must be taken to meet someone. As for who sent us, you'll find out in time. Your family is worried—it's best if you return home quickly."

Shen Youlin could only nod, her mind too muddled to consider more.

Fang Kai tried to beg for his life, but one of the men in black stepped up and knocked him out cold.

Shen Youlin, finally free, wanted nothing more than to return home. She sensed these men truly meant to save her, so she hesitated no longer and got into a car with them.

Meanwhile, at the Dragon Phoenix Teahouse.

The teahouse was closed for the night, but inside, every lamp was lit.

When Fang Kai was jolted awake by a bucket of cold water, he froze in shock.

He saw the one person he dreaded most, and another man he didn’t recognize, but whose imposing presence reminded him of Jiangcheng’s Master Shan.

His legs buckled and he collapsed to the floor.

Zuo Hongshan and Chen Yuyi sat calmly, sipping tea, flanked by two rows of men in black.

"I wonder how Mister Chen intends to deal with this brat from the Fang family?" Zuo Hongshan set down his teacup and asked.

"I’ve already broken one of his legs. Let him keep his life, but he’s never to show his face in Jiangcheng again," Chen Yuyi replied coolly.

Zuo Hongshan was momentarily surprised. He had thought to make the entire Fang family vanish overnight, but hadn't expected Chen Yuyi to be so merciful.

Fang Kai finally came to his senses. He couldn’t fathom how Shen Youlin could be connected to Mister Chen, but he had no time to dwell on it. Desperate to survive, he crawled and groveled at Chen Yuyi’s feet. "Thank you, Mister Chen! I swear I’ll never set foot in Jiangcheng again!"

Chen Yuyi was not a bloodthirsty man. Though Fang Kai had offended Shen Youlin, she herself was not entirely blameless. There was no need for him to kill.

"Alright, I must trouble you with tonight’s business, Master Shan. Let’s share tea together another day," Chen Yuyi said, rising.

Zuo Hongshan also stood. "Mister Chen, you’re too polite. If you ever wish to drink tea with me, you need only ask."

Fang Kai lay on the ground, drenched in sweat, finally letting out a long sigh of relief.

When he was thrown back home, he urged his father to move out that very night.

Lin Pojun, hearing the commotion and learning the details, raised his eyebrows. "This Mister Chen is truly formidable."

Of course, Fang Kai omitted the part about offending Shen Youlin, claiming he had merely run into Mister Chen by chance while meeting friends.

His father panicked instantly. Lin Pojun was helpless; he knew he could not stand against Mister Chen.

"Perhaps you should come with me to Shangdu," Lin Pojun suggested after a moment’s thought.

The Fang father and son agreed eagerly, and after packing through the night, left for Shangdu with Lin Pojun.

When Chen Yuyi returned to the Shen house, he found Xu Ruizhi weeping for joy as she embraced Shen Youlin. He simply smiled and turned to leave for his room.

"Stop right there!" Shen Zhujun called out.

"What is it? If you have something to say, let’s discuss it in my room," Chen Yuyi replied with a faint smile.

Shen Youlin broke away from her mother’s arms and glared at him indignantly. "As my brother-in-law, you ignored me after I was kidnapped. Are you even a man?"

Xu Ruizhi was also upset. "You disappear when there’s trouble, but reappear the moment everything is fine. You did this on purpose!"

Chen Yuyi rubbed his nose. "Well, since all is well, I’ll just head to my room."

"This is outrageous!" Xu Ruizhi was nearly beside herself with anger.

Shen Youlin shot her elder sister a resentful look, as if to say, "Sister, is this the husband you chose?"

Shen Zhujun wanted to say something, but words failed her. She could only shake her head and sigh, then went to find Chen Yuyi.
