Chapter 118: The Realm of Psychic Communion
Shen Zhuyun was stunned. "Zhao Lan, what are you doing? Get up, please."
"Zhuyun, for the sake of our sisterhood, please beg your husband to grant me a Hundred-Turn Pill." Zhao Lan knelt even lower, her voice choked with tears.
Shen Zhuyun looked toward Chen Yuyi. She did not know what a Hundred-Turn Pill was, but seeing Zhao Lan’s desperation, it was clearly something precious and vital to her. However, given that this man was not her real husband and Zhao Lan had targeted him so many times in the past, she doubted he would comply. Sighing helplessly, she said, "Zhao Lan, the items belong to him, and I cannot intervene. You should ask him yourself."
Chen Yuyi stood up from the sofa. "A Hundred-Turn Pill is of little consequence to me, but I do not give them away lightly. What do you have that is worth my bestowing it upon you?"
Zhao Lan crawled toward him. "If you grant me the pill, I—and the entire Zhao family—will obey any command you give us!"
Chen Yuyi tossed a pill toward her. "Remember your words. If you dare to break this oath, I will ensure the Zhao family ceases to exist." He then turned and walked away with his hands behind his back.
Overjoyed, Zhao Lan hurriedly secured the pill and stood up. She cast a complex look at Shen Zhuyun, wanting to say something, but ultimately remained silent and departed the Shen household with Elder He.
Shen Zhuyun stood frozen. In that moment, she had truly felt a side of Chen Yuyi she had never seen before. He possessed an aura of absolute authority over life and death, radiating a chilling, murderous intent. He was no longer the man she once knew.
After leaving the Shen residence, Chen Yuyi arrived at Villa No. 1 on the summit of Green Mountain. This was the property Zuo Hongshan had gifted him, which he had left for Qin Guo to manage. He had also imparted certain cultivation techniques to Qin Guo, instructing him to practice diligently.
"Sir, you have arrived!" Qin Guo seemed transformed; his inner energy was restrained, and his martial arts cultivation had transcended the Grandmaster realm, nearing the threshold of the Martial Venerable realm.
Chen Yuyi nodded in satisfaction. The techniques he had provided were far superior to anything in the world, so such rapid progress was expected. "I will be leaving Jiang City for a while. During this time, I want you to look after the Shen family."
Qin Guo bowed respectfully, viewing Chen Yuyi as a mentor. "Rest assured, sir. I will ensure no harm comes to anyone in the Shen family."
"Good. Your cultivation is just a step away from the Martial Venerable realm, but that is no longer an issue." Chen Yuyi flipped his palm, revealing several dark pills. "These are Dragon-Tiger Pills. They will elevate your cultivation by a level. Previously, your foundation could not handle their potency, but now you are ready. Once you consume these, you will truly step into the Martial Venerable realm."
Qin Guo accepted the pills with trembling hands. To a former assassin like him, becoming a Martial Venerable was a dream beyond reach. Yet, after only a few days under Chen Yuyi’s guidance, he was on the verge of that breakthrough. He understood that following Chen Yuyi would lead to limitless possibilities.
"Go, focus on your breakthrough now." With his affairs settled, Chen Yuyi felt at ease. Leaving a Martial Venerable to guard the Shen family ensured their safety. He wondered if he truly viewed the Shen family as his own; he decided that since they treated him like family, it was only right that he did the same.
Just as he considered calling Zhang Tianyou, his phone rang.
"Yuyi, where are you?" Zhang Tianyou’s voice was urgent and frantic.
"What happened?" Chen Yuyi frowned.
"Shaoqi... she has been poisoned. She is in the hospital, unconscious!"
"How?"
"I don't know. The doctors say it is a rare, unknown poison. Her life is hanging by a thread, and I didn't know who else to turn to."
"When did this happen?"
"Yesterday. We were planning to visit the Shen family to offer birthday wishes to the old lady when she suddenly collapsed. The doctors are now helpless and have issued a critical condition notice."
"Don't panic. Which hospital? I am on my way. She will be fine." Chen Yuyi hailed a cab and rushed to the hospital.
Zhu Shaoqi lay in the intensive care unit. Through the glass, Chen Yuyi saw her face was pale as paper, devoid of life. The heart monitor showed her pulse had slowed to a mere twenty or thirty beats per minute; she was on the brink of death.
Seeing Chen Yuyi, Zhu Shaohui’s desperate face showed a flicker of hope. "Mr. Chen, please, save my sister!" He moved to kneel, but Chen Yuyi stopped him.
"Shaoqi is my friend. I will not let anything happen to her."
That simple statement brought relief to Zhu Shaohui. He knew his sister’s feelings for Chen Yuyi were a luxury she could never attain, but having such a powerful man as a friend was a blessing in itself.
Chen Yuyi entered the room alone, closing the curtains behind him to hide his methods. Outside, Zhu Shaohui and Zhang Tianyou waited in silence.
Inside, Chen Yuyi observed the dying girl. The poison had ravaged her internal organs, and only a residue of the Grass-Return Pill he had previously given her was keeping her alive.
"Such a vicious poison!" his eyes turned cold. He waved his hand, and Zhu Shaoqi’s body began to hover in the air.
