At that moment, Bai Guangyuan sat dazedly on the sofa in the hall, oblivious even to his son's return.

"Lang, are you alright?" Bai Lang called out.

Only then did Bai Guangyuan snap back to reality. He glanced at Chen YuYi. "And who might this be?"

"He’s the Yu brother I mentioned to you! You may call him Mr. Chen!" Bai Lang stepped forward to help his father to his feet.

Bai Guangyuan regained some composure and quickly extended his hand. "So you are the Yu brother Lang has spoken of! Mr. Chen, my apologies for the oversight."

After politely inviting Chen YuYi to sit, he inquired, "Mr. Chen, you wouldn’t have come here just to visit casually, would you?"

Having spent years navigating the business world, Bai Guangyuan instinctively knew that someone like Chen YuYi wouldn’t show up without a purpose.

“Dad, why did you pull the products of Xin Zhu Company from shelves? That company has ties to Mr. Chen…” Bai Lang hesitated, uncertain whether to disclose Chen YuYi’s connection with Miss Shen.

“I see, Mr. Chen, you came because of this matter. I must apologize; it was a minor issue, and Lang could have handled it himself. However, there’s a figure involved behind the scenes—a person the Bai family dares not offend easily. So, please don’t blame Lang; the orders came from me. As for any losses caused to Miss Shen, we are willing to offer compensation. What say you, Mr. Chen?”

Chen YuYi smiled faintly. "May I ask who this person you mentioned is?"

Bai Guangyuan’s understanding of Chen YuYi was limited to what his son had told him. Bai Lang, still fearful and deeply affected by Chen YuYi’s formidable presence, had only partially introduced him—as a capable and impressive man. Moreover, Bai Lang himself wasn’t fully aware of Chen YuYi’s exploits in Jiangcheng, so he couldn’t explain much to his father.

Bai Guangyuan knew only that Chen YuYi was the ‘Yu brother’ mentioned by his son. He hadn’t given much thought to the surname Chen, a common name, and had not connected him with the rumored Mr. Chen.

Noticing a hint of disdain in Chen YuYi’s expression, Bai Guangyuan felt somewhat displeased, yet since his son had described him as a remarkable man, he remained courteous.

“Is there something unsatisfactory about the terms I proposed, Mr. Chen? If so, I can increase the compensation by several tens of percent. I hope you can understand the Bai family’s situation.”

“Dad!” Bai Lang, sensing something was off, asked, “What situation is the Bai family in? Who was the visitor before we returned?”

“Lang, that’s none of your concern. You’re no longer a child. The Bai family’s future depends on you. You must stop your old ways of indulgence and focus more on the family business.”

Hearing his father’s earnest words, Bai Lang sensed something was seriously wrong. “Dad, what are you hiding from me?”

Bai Guangyuan glanced at Chen YuYi. “Enough. Don’t ask. I’ll be away for a while. In the meantime, you should visit different Bai family companies and learn from the elders. Mr. Chen, I’m feeling unwell and won’t keep you any longer. Lang, please take good care of Mr. Chen.”

With that, Bai Guangyuan bowed slightly to Chen YuYi and went upstairs.

Chen YuYi nodded faintly, unbothered.

“Yu brother, please don’t blame my father. He seems off today. I think I should go persuade him,” Bai Lang said.

“No need,” Chen YuYi replied after a brief pause. “I didn’t come solely because of this matter. But if the Bai family faces any trouble, you must tell me. I don’t want to see the Bai family vanish without reason.”

Chen YuYi’s words struck a chord in Bai Lang’s heart. What trouble could the Bai family be facing? His father’s odd behavior only deepened his unease. Could there really be secrets kept from him?

“Thank you, Yu brother.” Bai Lang smiled, touched by Chen YuYi’s concern for the Bai family’s well-being.

“You don’t have to thank me. Didn’t you say before that you wanted to hand the Bai family over to me? How could I just watch it fall apart?” Chen YuYi smiled wryly.

Bai Lang’s expression instantly froze...

Later that afternoon, when Chen YuYi returned to the company, it was abuzz with excitement.

The firm had just secured numerous substantial orders, far surpassing those received during Wei Jiadong’s tenure.

The happiest of all were the girls in the R&D department.

Xiao Ya, Lei Lei, and Xu Danhong—the department’s key figures—were already gathered in the president’s office, their faces alight with excitement.

“I knew with Mr. Chen involved, it would work. But I didn’t expect him to be this formidable!” Lei Lei beamed with admiration.

“This Mr. Chen is truly exceptional. Not only did he solve our perfume issues, but he also handled sales. I wonder if he knows boxing—I’d love to spar with him!” Xu Danhong clenched her fists eagerly.

Xiao Ya rolled her eyes, adjusting her glasses. “All you think about is boxing, like some violent woman. Mr. Chen is refined; he wouldn’t spar with you. I’m different—I might exchange perfume insights with him.” She wore a lovestruck expression.

Shen Zhuyun, though happy, felt her temper flare. That’s her husband they’re talking about, yet these homebodies dared to set their sights on him.

But she kept her resentment to herself, surprised to find herself jealous.

Come to think of it, this man really surprised her. After only a day in the sales department, he managed to secure so many deals. Was there some trick?

If so, it was an extraordinary one.

“By the way, President, can we fire that Minister Yu in the marketing department?” Lei Lei suggested.

She had long disliked the woman, and Chen YuYi’s actions had dealt her a satisfying blow.

“That woman doesn’t deserve that position. President, it’s time to clean house,” Xiao Ya agreed heartily.

“Why not let Mr. Chen take that spot? That Wei Jiadong isn’t a good person either—he ignored the president. Fire them both!” Xu Danhong said, clenching her fists angrily.

Shen Zhuyun pondered. “Let’s discuss that later. For now, I think we should hold a celebration party to boost morale. Everyone’s been down lately; it’s time to liven things up.”

“Agreed!” Lei Lei raised both hands enthusiastically.

Xiao Ya and Xu Danhong also nodded. They didn’t care much about the party itself, but after so much hard work, they wanted to relax.

“All right, it’s decided. The celebration will be tomorrow night at Blue Sky Hotel!”

After some chatter, the women dispersed.

When Chen YuYi returned, employees were already receiving news of the celebration, buzzing with excitement. Their enthusiasm for work had noticeably risen, and their eyes regarded Chen YuYi as a hero.

Chen YuYi hadn’t expected Qi Yun’s efficiency to be so swift.

Upon arriving at the marketing department, Yu Fangling had mysteriously disappeared.

Fortunately, the others, energized by the influx of orders, were now working diligently.

At that moment, Shi Qingqing approached with a smile. “The president requests your presence.”

Chen YuYi followed her to Shen Zhuyun’s office.

“I didn’t think you had such ability. But did you personally negotiate these orders? Many aren’t previous clients. How did you manage?” Shen Zhuyun’s eyes fixed on Chen YuYi. This man kept surprising her, leaving her unsure how to regard him.

Chen YuYi smiled slightly. “Your husband has always been outstanding—you just hadn’t noticed.”

“Don’t mention our relationship at work!” Though alone, Shen Zhuyun whispered a reprimand.

Chen YuYi shook his head in resignation. “Fine, no more talk of that. Why did you call me here? It’s nearly quitting time. You’re not planning to make me go home with you, are you?”

Then Shen Zhuyun suddenly produced a document.

“Sign this.”

“What is it?”

“An agreement.”
