Chapter 106: The Return of the Great Demon King?
A faint smile flickered in Chen Yu’s eyes before he collapsed to the ground.
Seeing him fall, the stunning beauty’s lips curled into a sly smile as she swiftly sprang to her feet, her earlier drunken demeanor vanishing without a trace. Her eyes now gleamed with cold disdain, revealing that her previous expressions were merely an act.
“What a pathetic man! I threw myself at him, and he still dodged!”
Beside her, the crew-cut man laughed heartily. “Never thought you’d get rejected by a man too!”
He then glanced down at Chen Yu lying on the ground, shaking his head. “Looks like this guy’s a coward, scared of trouble. Seeing us make such a big scene, he didn’t even flinch.”
The dazzling beauty sneered coldly. “I’ve never seen anyone like this. Not a hero coming to save the beauty, not even lending a helping hand—so I had to make a grand flop myself. And to think we planned all this just to deal with someone like him—it was a total waste.”
“Haha, it’s because our Dark World-returned Demon Lord is too cautious. He’s just a somewhat handsome guy; no need to personally test him. Alright, let’s report back honestly.”
At that moment, the thugs who had been sprawled on the ground got up and approached the two respectfully.
“Brother Lang, Sister Ying, what should we do with this guy?”
“Just a loser. Let him fend for himself here,” the crew-cut man said without even glancing at Chen Yu.
The glamorous beauty, Nightingale, gave Chen Yu a cold glance.
“That’s too kind. Strip him of his clothes and toss him somewhere conspicuous!”
The crew-cut man burst into laughter, pity written all over his face for Chen Yu.
After they left, the thugs gathered around Chen Yu. Suddenly, Chen Yu’s eyes snapped open.
Startled, the thugs stepped back a few paces, but their surprise quickly faded; they weren’t truly afraid.
“Kid, how did you wake up so quickly from Sister Ying’s smoke?” one sneered.
Chen Yu stood, brushed off the dust, and didn’t even glance at them.
“Who are they? And who is this ‘Demon Lord’ from the Dark World they keep talking about?” His voice was calm, indifferent.
These weren’t ordinary thugs; they were skilled men in disguise. Seeing Chen Yu so composed, they hesitated, reluctant to advance.
“Kid, that’s none of your business. You’d better strip now, save yourself some pain. We owe Sister Ying an explanation,” the small leader among them said, scrutinizing Chen Yu. He saw nothing special about him but wondered why he was so calm and why he could wake up so fast from the smoke. Perhaps he was more capable than he appeared, so caution crept into his demeanor.
Chen Yu met his gaze with a cool look. For some reason, the small leader suddenly felt a chill.
“I’ll ask again. If you don’t answer, don’t bother speaking ever again!” Chen Yu’s voice remained calm.
“Who do you think you are?” one of the men, the most hot-tempered among them, clenched his fist and swung it at Chen Yu.
Chen Yu lazily extended a hand. His movements were slow, but he caught the flying fist with ease.
The man froze, tried to pull back his fist, but it wouldn’t budge.
Then came a cracking sound. The man stared in disbelief at his fist.
His fist had been crushed—not broken, but squeezed into a soft, shapeless mass.
He momentarily forgot the pain, astonished by what he saw.
“Ahh...” The excruciating pain surged like a tidal wave. Unable to bear it any longer, he cried out before his eyes rolled back and he fainted.
Chen Yu shook his head lightly. These guys weren’t worth using serious force on; just that was enough to break him.
The others held their breath, not daring to advance.
With a thud, the small leader knelt first. He had some experience—this was beyond his capabilities. Besides, he’d felt strong unease before, and now his heart pounded with fear. He didn’t want the same fate as the man who had just collapsed.
The others followed suit, kneeling and lowering their heads.
“They’re a group returned from the International Dark World. The man’s nickname is Greedy Wolf, the woman is called Nightingale. They serve the so-called Demon Lord they mentioned. We haven’t met this Demon Lord ourselves and don’t know why they’re after you, sir. Please spare our lives!” the small leader confessed. He was merely their temporary subordinate and knew little, but at least Chen Yu got some insight into their origins. As for the Demon Lord, Chen Yu already had an idea who that might be.
“Hm, since you’re cooperative, I won’t hold it against you. But don’t show your faces here again. As for whatever Nightingale ordered you, you can report back that it’s done. Then leave Jiang City with me—go as far away as possible. If I find you disobey, you know the consequences.”
Chen Yu said this, then abruptly traced a finger across the ground.
Suddenly, a fissure appeared—cleaner than if cut by a blade—spreading rapidly toward the men.
Terrified, they scrambled to the ground.
When they recovered, Chen Yu had vanished.
“What do we do now, Brother Qiang?” one asked nervously, fear filling his eyes.
“What else? Do as he said. This guy’s not someone we can mess with!” Brother Qiang panted, clutching his chest. The crack had nearly reached him; he dared not imagine what would have happened if it had.
“But Tiger’s hand was ruined!” another subordinate grumbled, unwilling to accept it because he was close to Tiger.
“Do you want your life ruined too?” the small leader snapped.
“Brother Qiang, I suddenly think that guy looks like someone!” another said.
“Who?”
“Mr. Chen!”
“Which Mr. Chen?” the first questioned, puzzled.
Brother Qiang’s pupils constricted sharply. “Let’s go, now! We’re leaving Jiang City immediately. Do not provoke this man!”
“But which Mr. Chen?” the subordinate pressed.
Brother Qiang gave him a sharp knock on the head. “In Jiang City, who else could it be?”
He then ordered them to carry the unconscious man away.
The subordinate was stunned, then fear washed over his face. “Brother Qiang, wait for me...”
…
In a luxurious mansion, Wei Jiandong held a naked Yu Fangling in one arm while a cigar smoldered between his fingers, the smoke drifting lazily.
Yu Fangling was the female employee who had flirted with him at the company earlier.
“Dong-gege, this house is so big. You’re not living here alone, right?” she murmured, tracing light circles on his muscular chest.
Wei Jiandong smiled softly. “Of course not. It’s just me here.”
Yu Fangling blushed and smiled shyly. “Then can I consider it my home too?”
Wei Jiandong tilted her chin up and said, “As long as you want, it’s always yours.”
She buried her head in his arms. “Dong-gege, you’re so good to me.”
“Since you know I’m good to you, keep an eye on that icy CEO for me. Report any company news to me. I don’t plan to go back for a while.”
Yu Fangling looked up, disappointment flickering in her eyes. “So you still think about her. I thought calling me here meant you’d given up.”
“Not so easily. But don’t be sad—you already have me, don’t you?”
She thought for a moment. Someone like Wei Jiandong could never be controlled. Having this fleeting warmth was already a blessing. She smiled softly. “As long as you keep me in your heart, nothing else matters.”
Then she recalled something. “The company announced a major development today—Dream Charm has been successfully developed and is ready for production. Barring any issues, it’ll be handed to marketing for promotion tomorrow.”
Wei Jiandong’s eyes flickered with surprise. “They managed to settle it so quickly in R&D…”
