By then, the company employees had all gone home for the day, and Shen Zhuyun drove straight back to the house.

“Hmm? Sis, didn’t brother-in-law come back with you?” Shen Youlin had just returned from school and could not help asking.

“He has something to attend to. I’ll be going out again in a little while, so I won’t be eating at home.”

“Don’t tell me you and brother-in-law are planning to have a candlelit dinner somewhere?” Shen Youlin teased with a sly grin.

Shen Zhuyun had no time for her nonsense. “All right. Tell Mom and Dad not to prepare dinner for us.”

With that, she went to her room and opened a small drawer. From inside, she took out a stun baton for self-defense. She had bought it for Chen Yiyi before, but fortunately he had behaved himself, so she had never needed to use it. She had returned home precisely to retrieve it.

She grabbed the baton, hurried to her car, and drove away from the Shen residence.

What she did not know was that Shen Youlin had slipped into the car at some point and was now crouching beneath the back seat, covering her mouth as she stifled her laughter…

Chen Yiyi sat in the vehicle as it carried him away from the city. After making countless turns, they finally entered a compound. It was lavish, and a row of parasol trees stood outside, lending the place an air of refinement.

Chen Yiyi was taken inside. Rather than a house, it would have been more accurate to call it an empty shell. Apart from the people present, there was no furniture at all—not even more than two chairs.

A dozen men stood along both sides of the room. Each looked imposing, and they did not resemble ordinary bodyguards. They seemed more like members of some organization. Yet in Chen Yiyi’s eyes, they were merely somewhat more rugged than ordinary people.

At the head of the room sat a seductive beauty, the only person seated in a chair.

It was Nightingale. The Greedy Wolf who had been with her was nowhere to be seen.

She was idly playing with a three-inch knife. When Chen Yiyi entered, she did not even raise her head.

“Do you still remember me?”

Chen Yiyi pretended to be startled. “Aren’t you the beautiful woman who got drunk yesterday? What a coincidence that we’ve met again.”

“I didn’t expect us to see each other again so soon either. Did you miss me?”

Chen Yiyi shook his head. “I passed out when I saw you yesterday. I’d rather not faint a second time.”

“Looks like you’re not very obedient.” Nightingale suddenly began spinning the knife rapidly between her fingers. That single movement was enough to show that she had excellent knife skills. Without a doubt, many people had died beneath her blade.

Chen Yiyi decided there was no need to keep pretending. With a faint smile, he said, “I’m curious. Where did people like you come from? Have I offended you somehow? Why are you so determined to come after me?”

At last, Nightingale raised her head. “So I really was mistaken yesterday. You weren’t affected by my sleeping smoke at all. Why did you pretend that you were?”

“If you have so much time on your hands, I don’t mind playing along. Now tell me—who are you people?” Chen Yiyi’s expression turned cold.

Nightingale smiled seductively. “You needn’t concern yourself with who we are. I can see that you’re no ordinary man. An ordinary person would have been scared senseless by now. So you deliberately allowed my men to capture you, didn’t you? But what does that prove? You’d better know your place. I’m beginning to appreciate you. As long as you stay by my side and serve me well, perhaps I’ll put in a good word for you before the Great Demon King and spare your life.”

“There are so many men here. Are you really short of one?” Chen Yiyi’s gaze swept over the two rows of imposing men, a hint of mockery in his voice.

“Brat, you’re asking for death! How dare you act insolently in front of Sister Nightingale!”

One of the men charged at Chen Yiyi, throwing a furious punch straight at his head.

Nightingale merely watched coldly and did nothing to stop him.

Without even looking at the attacker, Chen Yiyi raised one foot and gave him a light kick, as though nudging a small stone across the ground. The man never even got close to him before he was sent flying backward. He did not make a sound. When he crashed to the floor, he lay completely still.

Silence descended over the room.

Nightingale arched an eyebrow. “Kill him!”

She suddenly realized that this man was extremely dangerous. She had thought she could toy with him, but it seemed that she had been the one toyed with.

At her command, the men did not rush forward to surround Chen Yiyi. Instead, they took two steps back and drew pistols from their waists. Every one of them carried finely made firearms, and their cold expressions revealed that killing was hardly unfamiliar to them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After dozens of shots rang out, they expected to see a corpse. Yet when the smoke and dust cleared, Chen Yiyi was still standing where he had been.

Everyone stared at him in stunned disbelief.

Nightingale leapt to her feet, her pupils contracting sharply. Could this man really be on the same level as the Great Demon King?

Chen Yiyi held up his hand. The bullets had gathered in his palm.

“These things are nothing but toys in front of me. But since you dared to use them against me, you’ll have to pay the price.”

He flipped his hand, and the bullets shot out at tremendous speed.

The armed men did not even have time to groan before they collapsed one after another, each with a small red mark in the center of his brow.

Nightingale’s face began to pale. She stood frozen, afraid to make the slightest rash move. This man was far beyond anything she had imagined.

“Tell me. Who are you people?” Chen Yiyi asked calmly, his hands clasped behind his back as he turned away from her.

Nightingale stared at his back, a flicker of light passing through her eyes. He actually dared to look down on her and turn his back to her. He was courting death.

“Who are we? We’re people you can never afford to offend!”

She suddenly raised her hand. The knife in her grasp shot toward Chen Yiyi like a streak of ghostly light.

But before it could reach his back, the blade abruptly changed direction and flew back toward her.

Nightingale was horrified. She tried to dodge, but it was already too late. The knife pierced through her wrist and buried itself in the wall behind her.

Several drops of blood fell to the floor only moments later. Nightingale’s face turned deathly pale as a stabbing pain tore through her. Yet she knew that the pain was not the worst of it. Her hand was ruined. Her famed throwing knife would never fly again.

“You destroyed my hand? You—” Nightingale raged.

She might have found death easier to accept than the destruction of her hand. At least death would have ended her thoughts forever. Losing her hand, however, meant a life worse than death.

“Oh? I wasn’t allowed to destroy it? Then I’ll cut it off.”

Chen Yiyi remained facing away from her and casually waved his hand.

Nightingale did not even react. She merely felt a chill in her arm. Then she saw her hand, severed at the wrist, fall to the ground.

She was utterly dumbstruck.

When she had attacked Chen Yiyi earlier, she had still held on to a sliver of hope. Now she finally understood. The fury had vanished from her face. To him, killing her was no more difficult than killing a chicken. Worse still, he might have revealed only a tiny fraction of his strength. Just how terrifying his true power was remained impossible to imagine.

“Now, you should tell me, shouldn’t you?”

This woman had tried to kill him, so Chen Yiyi naturally had no reason to show mercy. Besides, she was vicious and ruthless, certainly no innocent. If he had truly been an ordinary man, he likely would never have lived to see the sun rise after falling into her hands that night.

“The Fire Dragon Society!” Nightingale said blankly. “We’re members of the Fire Dragon Society!”

“The Fire Dragon Society?” Chen Yiyi turned around and raised an eyebrow. “What kind of organization is that?”

Nightingale let out two shrill laughs. “Do you think what you’ve shown us is impressive? Hah! I’ll tell you this: the Fire Dragon Society is a world-class organization, filled with countless experts. And the Great Demon King who stands with us possesses unimaginable abilities. Everything you’ve done today—prepare to suffer his wrath!”

Chen Yiyi nodded. “Very good. From the way you describe it, this organization sounds rather interesting. I don’t mind playing with the Fire Dragon Society.”

Then he looked calmly at Nightingale.

“I also know who this so-called Great Demon King of yours is. Which means you no longer have any reason to remain alive.”

Nightingale began retreating step by step as the terror of death closed around her.

“I’m a woman. As a man, don’t you have even the slightest compassion? You’ve already severed my arm. Isn’t that enough?”

“Are you an ordinary woman?”

Chen Yiyi raised his hand once more…
