“Awooo~~”
Suddenly, a furious and unwilling wolf’s howl echoed from somewhere below. Under the starry sky, the members of the Firehammer Squad, who had been resting, were all startled awake.

“That’s a wolf’s cry!” Gao Feng said gravely.

Wolf-type monsters were rare. Everyone raised their high-powered night vision binoculars and peered downward. Soon, they spotted an enormous wolf on a distant street—its massive figure stood nearly three meters tall and stretched five or six meters long. Its fur was a uniform gray, save for a faint patch of white on its forehead.

“That’s the hunter, the Silvermoon Direwolf,” Chen Gu exclaimed in shock beside them. “It’s actually a royal among wolf-type monsters—a Silvermoon Direwolf! And it’s a high-level Beast General.”

“From the looks of it, that Silvermoon Direwolf seems wounded. What a chance! If we can bring it down, we’ll make a fortune,” Wei Tie said excitedly.

“Even a dying camel is bigger than a horse. That Silvermoon Direwolf is still a high-level Beast General, close to the strength of a Lord. We can’t be sure we can kill it,” Gao Feng analyzed seriously.

“Let me try. This wounded Silvermoon Direwolf is worth a lot. Since we’ve encountered it, we shouldn’t let it go so easily. Luo Feng, are you coming?” Luo Yuan spoke up, glancing at Luo Feng.

“Senior Luo Yuan, are you confident?” Luo Feng asked.

“Don’t forget, we’re Spirit Readers. We can fly. If we can’t win, we can always escape,” Luo Yuan rolled his eyes.

“That’s true,” Luo Feng smiled.

“All right, just be careful. If you can get it, do so—but don’t force yourselves. Safety first,” Gao Feng reminded them.

Luo Yuan and Luo Feng walked to the edge of the rooftop, channeled their spiritual force into their alloy boots, and with a few nimble leaps, floated down to the ground, hurrying toward where the Silvermoon Direwolf lurked.

As they neared, the Silvermoon Direwolf spotted them. Nearly three meters tall, its eyes flashed with a bloody glow in an instant. All at once, its fur seemed to surge with a strange energy, shifting from gray to brilliant silver! The wolf became dazzlingly radiant, and the patch of white on its brow turned blood red.

The Silvermoon Direwolf had entered battle mode.

“Whoosh!” The wolf transformed into a streak of silver light, appearing before them in a blink.

“Supersonic speed!”

There was no time to dodge. Luo Yuan and Luo Feng both leapt into the air, Luo Yuan hovering fifty meters above the ground, his powerful spiritual force supporting his alloy boots as though treading on invisible glass, sending ripples across the sky.

Almost at the same moment, the Silvermoon Direwolf leapt after them—but it could only reach twenty or thirty meters high, falling short of Luo Yuan’s clothes.

“Let’s finish it with throwing knives!” Luo Yuan called to Luo Feng, who nodded.

“Swish, swish, swish—”

Luo Yuan’s six Series-9 flying knives shot toward the wolf’s vital points, while Luo Feng’s knives targeted its wounded belly.

The Series-9 flying knives were weapons capable of slaying Lord-level monsters. Struck by the flurry of blades, the Silvermoon Direwolf was overwhelmed; the knives quickly pierced its body, shredding its organs into pulp. With one last unwilling howl, the Silvermoon Direwolf plummeted from the sky!

Boom!

Its massive body crashed to the ground, toppling a shaky wall with a thunderous rumble.

Luo Yuan and Luo Feng descended, gazing at the direwolf’s corpse with satisfied smiles.

“Quick, dissect the Silvermoon Direwolf before other teams steal the credit,” Luo Yuan said, and together they began the work.

After finishing, Luo Yuan and Luo Feng mounted their shields and soared back to the Firehammer Squad’s rooftop.

“Captain, Brother Chen!” Luo Feng greeted with a smile, Luo Yuan nodding at the others.

“Neither of you are hurt, very good. So, did you get the Silvermoon Direwolf?” Gao Feng asked as he approached.

Luo Yuan opened his backpack, and everyone crowded around to see the direwolf materials, each face lighting up with joy.

——

The next morning, the Firehammer Squad quietly left County 0201, moving along the battered highway toward the supply base.

——

Once inside the base, everyone visibly relaxed.

“Captain! The Tiger Fang Squad is over there!” Chen Gu suddenly shouted.

Instantly, all eyes turned. Not far away, beneath a large tree, sat three men—upon seeing them, the Firehammer Squad members’ faces darkened in anger.

Zhang Zehu and his two companions paled at the sight of the seven Firehammer members and immediately turned to leave.

“Stop! Trying to run?” Gao Feng snapped.

“What are you yelling for, Gao Feng?” One of the Tiger Fang trio, a one-eyed middle-aged man, turned around and barked back. “You think this is just anywhere? This is military territory, a supply base for warriors, not a place for your antics.”

“Yeah, know your place,” sneered the bald man beside him.

Luo Yuan strode forward, fixing Zhang Zehu with a cold glare that made the burly man shrink back. He’d seen Luo Yuan personally slay a Beast General-grade Twin-Tailed Tiger Cat with a single blow—he knew that blade could end him just as easily.

“Zhang Zehu, isn’t it? I know you have a grudge with Luo Feng. But why did your Tiger Fang Squad take a shot at me in County 0201?” Luo Yuan’s voice was harsh.

“I… I…” Zhang Zehu stammered, unable to answer.

“You’re Luo Yuan, right? A rookie with War General strength at your age—we saw you as the greater threat, that’s all,” the one-eyed man said, sizing Luo Yuan up. As a War General himself, he didn’t fear Luo Yuan much.

“Heh, very well. Tiger Fang Squad, you’d better watch yourselves in the wilderness—from now on, you might just vanish without a trace,” Luo Yuan sneered.

The Firehammer members exchanged satisfied glances. Offending Luo Yuan meant Tiger Fang’s days were numbered.

At Supply Base Villa A9, the Firehammer Squad found a temporary place to rest.

“We’ve gained a lot this time. Let’s take care of the materials we collected,” said Gao Feng.

“You handle it. I trust you all. I’m going to shower and rest,” Luo Yuan replied, dumping his monster materials onto the table in a small mountain. The sight left the others wide-eyed; nearly all Luo Yuan’s loot came from Beast General-level creatures, anything less he disdained as a waste of space.

After a quick greeting, Luo Yuan took a long shower, washing away the stink of monster blood. He sent his combat suit for cleaning and repairs, then retired to his room.

Sitting cross-legged, Luo Yuan focused his mind and opened his attribute panel.
