Chapter Eighty-Nine: One Peach, Three Worthies (Conclusion)
"However, before I kill you, there's another matter I need to settle!" The bespectacled man abruptly withdrew his hand from his glasses and launched a punch at his tall companion.
Now that both had seized their target, they could end his life at any moment. If they acted too hastily and left room for dispute, it would be impossible to determine who had actually slain this Saint. Then, he would be forced to share the credit. To avoid such a predicament and claim the glory for himself, he resolved to eliminate his tall partner.
As the dazzling, radiant fist flew toward him, the tall one responded in kind with a punch of his own.
"It seems we're thinking along the same lines!"
Boom!
Two fists, blazing with piercing brilliance, collided—the force of impact shattered the ground within nearly a hundred meters. Though Yin Seventeen stood at the very center of this shockwave, he remained utterly unharmed.
Both evil gods, harboring their own schemes, tacitly used their cosmos power to 'shield' him, preventing accidental death.
And in that moment, as the two focused solely on each other, Yin Seventeen curled his lips into a smile.
At last, his opportunity had arrived!
The cosmos within him burned bright, but this time, he transformed its power into another form.
The tall one and the bespectacled man sensed the surge of his cosmos, but their confidence in their own strength made them dismissive. This Silver Saint's power was far too weak; there was no way he could harm them, much less break free from their control. All they needed was to repel the rival before them.
"Saint Sword."
Yin Seventeen pushed his cosmos to its peak, unleashing his strength to the utmost. Two streams of silvery sword energy emerged from his fists, piercing the palms of the evil gods with the ease of needles through soft tofu.
"What?!"
Feeling the sudden anomaly in their hands, the two evil gods were struck with terror—they tried to let go, but it was already too late.
The sword energy, sharp beyond compare, was Yin Seventeen's own; though his overall strength was only mediocre among Silver Saints, the lethality of his sword energy alone rivaled the very best. Such was the extreme offensive nature inherent to the sword energy.
Using the same cosmos power, the destruction wrought by his fists and by sword energy were worlds apart. With sword energy, he could reach the upper ranks of Silver Saints, even approach their very limits.
Had the distance been greater, the evil gods could have easily dodged, or expended vast cosmos power to neutralize the sword energy before it struck. But now, with their hands gripping his fists, palm to palm, the sword energy plunged straight from his fists into their hands.
They had no chance to evade, and the cosmos in their palms was utterly insufficient to dispel the sword energy before it pierced their flesh. In truth, at that instant, they stood defenseless before Yin Seventeen.
The sword energy cut through their palms, unstoppable, and in the blink of an eye, pierced their chests and exited from the other side.
Instantly, the two suns clashing before Yin Seventeen were snuffed out; the vibrant cosmos of the evil gods faded swiftly, plummeting to the abyss.
"You—"
The bespectacled man’s mouth gaped wide as he stared at Yin Seventeen, now so close, but no words would come.
"Did you really think I couldn't kill you?" Yin Seventeen drew his fist from their now powerless hands, casting them a cold glance.
Spurt!
At these words, their eyes widened in shock. Their bodies split cleanly in half, falling forward and back, blood flooding the ground.
"It seems that last crocodile was an exception—his body was nearly as tough as a Silver Cloth!" Gazing at the corpses at his feet, Yin Seventeen recalled Rekton, who had escaped down the Nile.
In terms of strength, these two Silver Saints surpassed Rekton, yet their bodies were astonishingly fragile, far inferior to that half-man, half-crocodile.
Back then, the crocodile took two sword energy strikes; the first barely cut his skin, and the second targeted the vulnerable jaw, barely piercing through.
In sheer physical defense, Rekton had reached the level of the Silver Cloth.
Fortunately, these evil gods lacked any protective gear; had they possessed such, even Yin Seventeen's sword energy couldn't have slain them so easily.
In this, Athena's earlier decree to forge Cloths for the Saints was truly wise. Without the protection of the Crater Cloth, he would have died twice today, never even getting the chance to use Moon Dew.
Elsewhere, the hunched warrior, believing himself out of the running and denied the chance to claim the glory of slaying a Silver Saint, was about to attack Mei Yi and the others, only to witness a ghastly scene.
His two companions, locked in combat, were suddenly cleaved in half from the side—cut down and dispatched.
"You… you… what did you just do?" He pointed at Yin Seventeen from afar, voice trembling.
The whole scene was unnerving in the extreme.
The man had just endured two fatal blows and survived. Now, the two who vied for glory lay dead. How could this be unrelated to him? He simply couldn’t believe otherwise.
"What do you think?" Yin Seventeen looked at him with a playful glint, a faint smile upon his lips.
Seeing this, the hunched warrior grew ever more fearful, unable to discern if Yin Seventeen was bluffing or genuinely confident.
For a moment, he dared not strike again.
Yin Seventeen also remained motionless, locking his gaze onto his adversary, not daring to act rashly.
His speed paled in comparison to the other's upper-tier Silver level. Though his sword energy could compensate for the gap in attack, his slowness was the fatal flaw.
This was why he had concealed his sword energy technique all along. To reveal it early would only put the enemy on guard, and with the vast difference in speed, sword energy would be rendered almost useless.
Better to feign weakness, lower the enemy’s vigilance, then strike with sword energy for a sudden, lethal blow.
He had expected to kill one at best, never imagining the two fools would be so careless, practically offering their necks to his blade.
A pleasant surprise, indeed.
Thus, the current strategy of holding defense and waiting for attack suited him best.
Acting rashly would only waste effort, perhaps even expose his vulnerabilities.
Even if he couldn’t defeat his opponent outright, as long as he could stall this last Silver-level evil god, drag out the time, he would have succeeded.
For their side still had one stronger—Mayura of the Peacock Cloth.
He never doubted Mayura’s ability to win.
Once Mayura returned, everything would be settled.
