Chapter 92: The Colossal Horn
Within the stronghold of the evil god, Yin Shiqi and his companions were taking a brief respite. Suddenly, a golden rainbow of light streaked across the sky from afar. Before any of them could react, it crashed into the center of the clearing with a thunderous rumble.
As the golden radiance dispersed, a burly man clad in resplendent golden armor materialized before them.
"Greetings, Lord Aldebaran!" they greeted in unison.
Aldebaran waved a hand, chuckling. "No need for such formality! I prefer to see you all relaxed and at ease."
Upon hearing this, Ruolan could not help but ask eagerly, "Then, my Lord, what brings you here so suddenly?"
Aldebaran smiled faintly and said in an unhurried tone, "At this stage, the evil god's domain is unlikely to send any more reinforcements. After consulting with Camus and the other two, we have decided to lead you in clearing out the remaining strongholds outside the domain, before venturing deep inside for the final purge. Therefore, you won't need to lift a finger in the upcoming battles. You only need to help me locate the remaining strongholds scattered across the land!"
Hearing this, Yin Shiqi expressed his concern, "Lord Aldebaran, we have not even entered the evil god's domain yet. If you begin exhausting your strength so early, then the battles ahead..."
Unfortunately, before he could finish, the Taurus Saint cut him off.
"It is fine, it is fine!" Aldebaran waved it off with a laugh. "A few mere foot soldiers won't drain much of my strength. Besides, haven't you all already cleared nearly half of North America? You deserve a break. Leave the rest to me!"
"But..." Yin Shiqi tried to argue further, only to be interrupted once more.
"No buts, my dear junior!" The Taurus Saint patted his shoulder, laughing heartily. "As your senior, shielding you from the storm and clearing the path is exactly what I ought to do. Besides, if we three Gold Saints were to just stand by and watch leisurely while a group of Bronze and Silver Saints fight to the death, where would our dignity be? It is settled!"
Seeing his unwavering resolve, Yin Shiqi and the others could say no more.
Ten minutes later, under Aldebaran's lead, the group resumed their search for the strongholds outside the domain.
"Lord Aldebaran, I have found a stronghold over here!" Mii, who had split off to search, was the first to locate a target and notified everyone via telepathy.
Possessing a Cosmo awakened to the Seventh Sense, Gold Saints could move at the speed of light. With a single thought, Aldebaran appeared right beside Mii.
Mayura was the second to arrive, followed by Yin Shiqi, while Ruolan and the remaining companion brought up the rear. Fortunately, they had not been too far from Mii. Though they arrived in succession, the delay was only a matter of a few seconds.
"None of you should waste your strength! I can handle this alone," Aldebaran said, gazing at the towering pyramid within the stronghold as he walked toward it with measured steps.
From behind, Ruolan whispered to Mii, "I've heard that Lord Aldebaran possesses the fastest strike speed among the twelve Gold Saints. I have always been curious about this, and today I will finally get to witness it."
Aldebaran possessed the most massive physique among the twelve Gold Saints. Logically, such a colossal figure should have had nothing to do with agility and ought to have been clumsy. Yet the reality was quite the opposite, which naturally piqued one's curiosity. Today, they finally had the chance to witness it firsthand.
Meanwhile, making no attempt to conceal his Cosmo aura, Aldebaran strolled openly into the stronghold. The enemy warriors had detected him long ago, yet they all huddled beneath the pyramid, not a single one daring to step forward to block his path. They had recognized his iconic golden armor at a single glance—the garb representing the Gold Saints, the strongest mortal warriors on Earth. Even though they had received the blessings of their god and obtained supernatural powers, they still did not dare underestimate such a foe.
"What is this? Are you all too terrified to even speak?" Looking at the tense crowd, Aldebaran shook his head slightly. "If you still possess a shred of manly pride, then clench your fists and attack me. Die a glorious death for the god you serve! I will give you the chance to make the first move, so that you may die with dignity!"
With that, he calmly raised his arms and crossed them over his chest.
Seeing his dismissive posture, veins bulged on the foreheads of the enemy warriors in sheer rage.
"Even for a Gold Saint, you are far too arrogant!"
"Let's attack together! He is only one man, and there are ten of us!"
The warriors quickly reached a consensus. Surrounding Aldebaran, they unleashed their attacks almost simultaneously.
"Pay the price for your arrogance, Gold Saint!"
"Die!"
In an instant, the ultimate techniques unleashed by the enemy warriors coalesced into a dazzling storm of energy, completely enveloping the battlefield and threatening to swallow Aldebaran whole. Yet, even in the face of such imminent danger, Aldebaran's expression remained unchanged. He merely let out a soft sigh.
"May your pitiful souls find salvation through Lady Athena. Great Horn!"
In an instant, a blinding golden radiance erupted from his body. The storm of energy that was about to swallow him dissolved into nothingness the moment it touched the light. With a single strike, he neutralized the combined assault of nearly ten enemy warriors. Furthermore, the golden light did not lose any of its momentum after neutralizing the attack. Like sunlight piercing through dark clouds, it surged forward, engulfing the warriors.
Screams of agony rang out as the warriors were sent flying backward like cannonballs. To Yin Shiqi and the others, it appeared as though a golden sun had erupted on the battlefield; when the light faded, the enemy warriors lay lifeless on the ground.
"Incredible!" Ruolan gasped, turning quickly to the Peacock Saint. "Lady Mayura, could you explain what just happened?"
Among those present, perhaps none but Mayura, who possessed strength at the very peak of the Silver Saints, could have clearly perceived the exchange.
Mayura nodded and began to patiently explain the exchange to them.
However, while Yin Shiqi had not seen the movements clearly, it did not mean he was entirely in the dark. The strike was akin to a quick-draw sword technique. Aldebaran's crossed arms were not a gesture of contempt toward his enemies, but rather a focused preparation for his strike. It was like sheathing a blade before executing a quick-draw technique—an accumulation of force before the onslaught.
Many opponents had been deceived by this misleading posture, falling carelessly to the technique. Because he gathered momentum while "sheathed," the moment he unleashed his strike, Aldebaran's speed would reach its absolute peak. This was the secret behind Aldebaran's reputation as the fastest striker among the twelve Gold Saints. Combined with the power of his Seventh Sense Cosmo, it was what made the Great Horn renowned as the most devastatingly powerful technique of the Twelve Houses.
