Chapter 115: The Indestructible Golden Bull
Witnessing this, Xolotl could not help but sneer, "With his spine shattered, I wonder how he expects to..."
As he spoke, Aldebaran pressed his arms firmly against the ground, instantly shattering his carbonized limbs into dust. Yet, though his charred arms crumbled, Aldebaran did not collapse. Instead, he channeled the power of his Cosmo to manifest two golden energy arms, using them to push himself slowly to his feet.
"This guy..." Xolotl’s mockery vanished, his expression turning grave. It was clear that the carbonization of the physical body could no longer restrain his opponent.
*Boom!*
Aldebaran lifted his carbonized right leg to take a step. The moment his foot touched the ground, the entire leg disintegrated. Just as he lost his balance and began to fall, he gathered his Cosmo at the base of his hip, manifesting a golden energy leg to steady himself.
In the next moment, under Xolotl’s tense gaze, Aldebaran took a second step. The left leg crumbled just like the first, but Aldebaran replaced it with a newly manifested limb of golden energy. He continued to move forward, his pace quickening. His carbonized body shattered further with every violent movement, but for every piece that fell away, his Cosmo rushed to fill the void. Eventually, the charred remains were entirely gone, replaced by a vessel of pure energy. Beneath his battered golden armor, there was no longer a trace of flesh; there was only the radiance of his Cosmo—he had become a humanoid suit of armor held together by the sheer force of his spirit.
"Without a body, left with nothing but your soul and Cosmo, you are nothing before me!" Xolotl extended a finger, aiming to strike down the energy-formed silhouette. As the god of death, dealing with spectral entities was his specialty. No matter how shocking Aldebaran’s display was, he was, in the end, merely a ghost unwilling to descend into the underworld. He could easily crush his soul and extinguish his final obsession.
Just then, Quetzalcoatl called out to stop him.
"Stay your hand! Leave this to me. You are to stand aside and watch!"
She then turned her gaze toward Aldebaran, who was approaching step by step, and smiled. "You are the most valiant warrior I have ever seen. I am willing to grant you this chance. Let you bloom with one final brilliance!"
"Come, let me see just how strong your obsession is, and whether you can create a miracle!"
Hearing this, Aldebaran’s Cosmo flared within the Taurus Gold Cloth, enveloping the entire armor in a golden flame. "Gods from beyond the heavens! Hear the final roar of the Bull!"
"Burn, my Cosmo!"
Aldebaran charged with a roar. In that moment, he pushed his Cosmo to a height he had never reached before, fueled by his final obsession.
"Titan's Nova!"
The golden energy of his Cosmo surged, manifesting as a majestic golden bull that charged straight toward the crimson pillar of light and the golden-haired goddess standing before it.
"Excellent, truly excellent!" Quetzalcoatl exclaimed, ecstatic. Her Cosmo materialized a Sun Calendar stone before her, which she shrank and grasped in her palm before meeting the charging Bull head-on.
"Solar Radiance!"
In an instant, it was as if the goddess held a miniature sun in her hand, colliding with the unstoppable golden bull.
*BOOM!*
The collision erupted in a blinding radiance. Even from ten kilometers away, Camus and the others on the northeastern battlefield saw the spectacle, which looked as if a sun had fallen from the sky. More than that, they felt an unimaginably powerful Cosmo radiating from Aldebaran amidst the clash—a strength far beyond anything they could have conceived.
Knocking away a persistent Deathmask, Tezcatlipoca looked toward the northwest, stunned. "A mere Gold Saint, to be able to unleash such power... it is truly incredible!"
In the northwest, the clash between the Bull and the Sun created a violent shockwave. The one-sided outcome everyone expected did not occur; instead, the two forces reached a brief stalemate. Aldebaran had, in this instant, erupted with power capable of rivaling Quetzalcoatl!
Xolotl, caught completely off guard, was blown away by the shockwave. But that was not the focal point. Because Quetzalcoatl could not suppress Aldebaran’s assault, the colliding energies poured directly onto the pyramid beneath her feet.
*Rumble!*
The entire pyramid disintegrated at a visible rate; the debris was ground into dust by the turbulent shockwaves before it could even hit the ground. Suddenly, the Bull’s aura faded rapidly, like a punctured balloon. With this sudden decline, the stalemate broke. The light of the sun flared, swallowing the Bull in its golden radiance.
In the end, Aldebaran was but a man, not a god, and could not fully withstand a deity of Quetzalcoatl’s caliber. That momentary stalemate had exhausted every ounce of his strength.
When the solar light faded, the ground was left in ruins, with only the broken Taurus Gold Cloth falling into a sea of lava below.
"Though it was only for a moment, you truly fought me to a standstill. I am very satisfied! You are worthy of being the warrior I chose," Quetzalcoatl said, nodding toward the fallen armor.
Xolotl approached, looking at the ruined pyramid. "My goddess, the Gate of Time and Space is destroyed. What shall we do now?"
The clash had been brief but terrifying, shattering the pyramid and destroying the nascent Gate.
"I have had my fill of fun! Let us end it here for today," Quetzalcoatl said with a light smile, appearing entirely unbothered. To a god, life and time were endless; a temporary setback meant nothing when they had the patience to plot their next move.
"Then what of the god of darkness? Are we to ignore him?" Xolotl asked cautiously.
Quetzalcoatl winked at him. "If you wish to go, then go! I have no interest in it." She had never been on good terms with Tezcatlipoca, and now, with her power depleted and her time in this realm running out, she had no desire to wade into that mess.
Hearing this, Xolotl shook his head. "Then I shall not go either."
On the northeastern battlefield, at the very moment the Bull fell, Camus and the others, locked in a fierce struggle against the god of darkness, received Aldebaran’s final message.
"Farewell, everyone. Give my regards to the Goddess!"
