Chapter 4: You’re the Wolf King? I’ll Just Knock You Out with a Bottle!

**[Wolf Shadows Emerge, the Wise One Claims the Throne]**
This round’s game setup is Wolf King with Guard.
Now, let me introduce the rules:
The match follows the edge-slaughter rule.
If the wolves kill all the civilians or all the special villagers, the wolves win.
If the good team eliminates all the wolves, the good team wins.
This round’s roles include—
4 wolves, 4 special villagers, and 4 ordinary villagers.
The wolves consist of three regular wolves and one Wolf King.
The Wolf King belongs to the wolf faction and can reveal his identity voluntarily; he can also choose to eliminate himself during the night.
When the Wolf King is attacked at night or exiled during the day, he can activate a skill to select another player to be eliminated alongside him.
The Wolf King cannot use this skill if poisoned or if he self-explodes.
The special villagers include: the Seer, the Witch, the Hunter, and the Guard.
The Seer can check one player's identity each night to see if they are good or wolf.
The Witch has one poison and one antidote potion, and can only use one potion per night, never on herself throughout the game.
The Hunter, when killed by wolves or exiled, can reveal their card and shoot one player; if poisoned, the Hunter cannot use this skill.
The Guard can protect one player each night from wolf attacks but cannot protect the same person two nights in a row. If the protected player is attacked and saved by the Witch’s antidote (i.e., protected and saved consecutively), that player is still eliminated.
Speech time is 180 seconds, and last words are 120 seconds.
Protection is my duty.
**[Now distributing role cards]**
With a magnetic voice echoing, a card appears before Wang Changsheng.
He silently mutters "Invisible to me" twice in his mind, then casually flips it over to glance, and immediately places it face down on the table.
“A Witch card, no less.”
Wang Changsheng nearly chuckled aloud.
With the system’s skill,
holding this card, he could even poison the Wolf King on the very first day!
Imagine—
in this Wolf King Guard setup,
he could poison the Wolf King out on day one.
How many points would that add?
Of course, if he opens with poison on day one without being attacked first, it’s not very wise.
To outsiders, it’s not very entertaining either.
Most importantly, the judges might not score him highly.
Page 2/3
They might even think he’s just here to mess around, which could hurt his future scores.
So after some thought, Wang Changsheng decides not to blindly poison the Wolf King on the first day.
He’ll give the wolf team some room,
using the system skill as a cover.
Except for a sharp-faced man who kept staring at Wang Changsheng, no one else paid him much attention.
As Wang Changsheng’s gaze shifted to others, most people just glanced at their cards and then covered them without further thought.
“Can’t see their cards now, have to wait for the night actions.”
After a minute of the card-viewing phase,
this also gave the live audience time to debate the players' possible roles.
Then, that magnetic voice resounded again inside the arena.
“It’s night, please close your eyes!”
As the voice fell, all players, including Wang Changsheng, wore ghost-like masks that snapped onto their faces without them touching.
With the mask on, Wang Changsheng’s vision changed instantly.
“Vocal! There’s actually a hole in the mask!”
As the referee’s commands were issued,
Wang Changsheng clearly saw who removed their masks during each phase.
The stunning number 8 on his left was actually a Guard card.
“Huh? Did this one pick wolf?”
After the Guard phase ended, the wolves opened their eyes.
Wang Changsheng saw the sharp-faced man’s mask vanish instantly.
Four wolf cards appeared before him.
And the sharp-faced man seemed to be the Wolf King!
“Heh heh heh, as expected from the system, destiny favors me! So I don’t need to hold back my poison on day one...”
Wang Changsheng chuckled inwardly.
If he just took out the sharp-faced man,
he would crush him both in team points and personal points.
Then his team would stomp on Ryu Ga Gotoku’s head and march into the world finals’ top 24!
“Just an open-book test, heh heh heh heh!”
Wang Changsheng watched the four wolf cards frantically exchanging gestures and mouth movements, laughing uncontrollably inside.
“Number 1 Square Face, Number 3 Sharp Face, Number 5 Buzz Cut, Number 6 Cute Girl—four wolves served to me on a silver platter!”
He stared wide-eyed at the wolf cards communicating with both lip-reading and hand signals.
Number 6 Cute Girl: “Any thoughts on faking a big role? I’m not good at faking Seer.”
Number 3 Sharp Face: “If you can’t fake it, let me do it. I have to win this match!”
Number 5 Buzz Cut: “But isn’t it hard to fake Wolf King? Maybe I should...”
Sharp Face: “No need! We’ll finish this quickly—just kill number 7 right away! Then I’ll fake, you guys just watch.”
Number 1 Square Face: “If you fake Wolf King, I’ll self-sacrifice. I’ll stay under suspicion and vote accordingly, tricking the Witch into wasting a potion and influencing her allegiance.”
Square Face refused Sharp Face’s idea of killing Wang Changsheng, choosing to self-sacrifice instead.
After some thought, Sharp Face nodded: “Alright, you self-sacrifice then.”
After discussion, all wolves agreed to target number 1.
The referee confirmed and placed the kill on number 1.
Wang Changsheng, watching from the sidelines, almost burst out laughing.
He was startled when Sharp Face said he wanted to kill him,
but in the end, his wolf teammates wrested the kill away back to number 1.
“Too funny, trying to trick me into using the antidote?”
Though Wang Changsheng came from another world and was previously a substitute,
he retained his predecessor’s memories and knew he was very diligent, often staying up all night studying other teams’ tactics.
So he had a decent database on number 1 Square Face.
That player rarely self-sacrificed when playing wolf.
Suddenly deciding to self-sacrifice now—any player holding the Witch card who knew this might actually waste a potion on him.
“But you ended up in my hands... heh heh heh heh!”
Meanwhile, outside the secret chamber in the audience stands,
though 12 players’ names and seat numbers were displayed on screen, no one could see their cards.
That’s how Werewolf works.
Only when everything is unknown does it become thrilling, exciting, and captivating.
Who will win or lose?
Who among your enemies is good or evil?
Until the cards are revealed, no one can predict the final outcome!
Of course, except Wang Changsheng...
“All player identities confirmed. This round will use the Witch’s perspective, number 7.”
Unlike the game’s flow,
commentators in the stands rely mainly on Xiao Ming’s chatter, and the arena’s sound system broadcasts the magnetic voice of the rules for added excitement.
Soon, the virtual game selected the spectator perspective for this match—
coincidentally, it was Wang Changsheng’s Witch perspective.
