Chapter Seven: An Incident (Part Two)
The Fan Residence!
At this moment, the grandfather and granddaughter had truly walked into the trap. Fan Yongfeng, ever so courteous, invited the two of them into the house with great politeness.
The Fan family’s estate was nothing short of grand—sprawling over more than a dozen acres, a testament to their immense wealth.
They entered the bedroom of Fan Yongfeng’s daughter, where the walls were lined with all manner of medicine bottles and medical apparatus. Fan Qing’er lay upon the bed, her face as pale as paper, utterly devoid of color. The sight of his daughter brought Fan Yongfeng to bow his head in sorrow, unable to keep from sighing deeply.
“Master Shi, you have a heart of compassion. Please, you must save my daughter!”
Shi Tianhe found himself in a predicament with no way out and could only nod in agreement.
“Rest assured, Mr. Fan.”
He stepped forward to examine the patient, and his expression darkened at once. This was an even more troubling case than Lian Yixian’s!
Not only was her tongue coated, but strange black spots, reminiscent of plum blossoms, marked her entire body. Densely clustered, they made for a shocking sight.
Only then did Shi Tianhe realize the truth—was this the legendary Stagnant Blood Syndrome?
He suddenly recalled the birthday banquet, regretting his earlier suspicion of Yan Yuanqing; a wave of remorse washed over him. And to think, someone so young could master the Thirteen Ghostly Acupuncture Points!
How had he, three years ago, never heard of such skill?
But now was not the time for idle reflection—the urgent task was to save a life. Shi Tianhe knew well how difficult this affliction would be to treat. Without further delay, he began to prepare for the procedure.
Who could have foreseen that Shi Yurou, driven by curiosity, would accidentally knock over a power outlet?
In an instant, the bedroom was filled with the shrill sound of alarms!
Before Shi Tianhe could even lift a needle, a crowd of people burst into the room!
...
Meanwhile, the Shi family was in utter turmoil—everyone as frantic as ants on a hot pan. News had just arrived that Shi Yurou had accidentally unplugged Fan Qing’er’s blood regeneration machine, and now Miss Fan was at death’s door!
Shi Tianhe and Shi Yurou were being detained, and the threat was clear: if they could not find someone to cure the young lady, the two of them would pay with their lives.
“Elder Brother, why don’t you go and try?” Ji Chunyan, her face anxious, ventured a suggestion.
Shi Chenren’s expression turned to one of horror at the words; he waved his hands in protest.
“Sister Ji, what are you saying? Don’t you know the state of our family’s medical skills? Old Master is the most skilled among us, and if even he cannot cure her, you want me to go? To my death?”
“Then…?” Ji Chunyan’s gaze shifted toward Shi Yurou’s second aunt’s family.
Yan Xialan’s face changed, and she hurriedly shirked responsibility.
“Now, Sister Ji, don’t look at us! Each family knows best where its medical talents lie, don’t they?”
For a moment, the entire Shi family was busy passing the blame.
Even though they knew Fan Yongfeng might harm their kin, they all chose self-preservation without hesitation.
Sometimes, family ties are worth little more than this.
Suddenly, the door swung open—Yan Yuanqing, having heard that his wife, Shi Yurou, was in trouble, had come to inquire.
The moment he stepped through the threshold, everyone seemed to have found their scapegoat.
“Well, well, the bringer of disaster has finally arrived!”
“If anyone’s to blame, it’s him!”
“If he hadn’t used that ridiculous Thirteen Ghostly Acupuncture Points to save Lian Yixian at the birthday banquet, would the Fan family have come looking for us?”
Second aunt Yan Xialan cursed and grumbled.
Yan Yuanqing was momentarily taken aback. He had heard a little about Shi Yurou and Shi Tianhe’s predicament, but what truly angered him was this: for a family of traditional healers, devoted to saving lives, to use their vocation as a means to shift blame—how utterly laughable!
“Yes, second aunt’s right! Otherwise, Old Master wouldn’t have found himself in such a bind, forced to go treat someone against his will!”
“Besides, this disaster was brought on by Shi Yurou—it has nothing to do with us! Yurou is this good-for-nothing’s wife; if anyone should be held responsible, it’s him!”
They were desperate to wash their hands of all responsibility, wishing they could sever all ties with the Shi family.
In their eyes, Shi Yurou and Yan Yuanqing were outsiders now—and it was only right that they be the ones to fall into the pit.
