Yuan Hongyu shook his head helplessly.

“Of course not. I personally oversaw this operation. As long as the patient isn’t suffering from a terminal illness, even if half their soul has already reached the gates of the underworld, I could still pull them back.”

“But with today’s patient, I was truly powerless.”

Yan Yuanqing asked curiously, “Didn’t you just say even the King of Hell would give way to you? What happened with this person?”

“Ah, don’t bring it up. When they called earlier, they said the patient was in shock, but didn’t know why. They rushed the person here as fast as they could.”

“Who would have thought that as soon as we got the patient into the room, hooked up all the machines, the heart stopped?”

“Of course, we did everything we could to save them, but nothing worked. Later, after some analysis, we figured the patient probably lost their heartbeat on the way here.”

“Now the family insists we killed their loved one, demanding an explanation, and they want the hospital to pay a fortune in compensation!”

“The hospital would never agree to such an outrageous demand, so in the end, the family took out their anger on these young staff members. It’s heartbreaking to watch. That’s why I called you, Master, to see if you have any way of helping them!”

Yuan Hongyu spoke with deep shame; it was his own inability that forced him to call for his master in such situations.

Yan Yuanqing smiled, reaching out to pat Yuan Hongyu’s shoulder in reassurance.

Then he approached the group of family members.

“Who are you? This has nothing to do with you. Leave now. If you’re here to speak for these murderers, don’t blame us for what happens. We won’t show mercy, but we don’t want to hurt the innocent, either!”

“Get out now, or it won’t be so easy to leave later!”

These family members, at least, seemed relatively rational. At the very least, they didn’t immediately assume Yan Yuanqing was hospital staff and treat him as such. Perhaps it was because Yan Yuanqing wasn’t wearing a white coat, making him look more like a bystander.

“I’d like to see the patient. You’re blocking my way and I can’t get into the emergency room, so I hope you’ll let me through.”

Yan Yuanqing said calmly to one of them.

“You trying to make fun of us, kid? Why do you want to see the patient? You’re not even a doctor—just playing pretend, are you?”

“If you’re here to cause trouble, this is your last warning. Next time, you’ll be dealing with my fists!”

One of the men, tall and powerfully built, clenched his fists and swung them twice, the air whistling with strength.

But Yan Yuanqing was clearly not intimidated.

“I really am a doctor, and I was personally invited by Doctor Yuan to help save your loved one. Don’t you want to hold on to this last hope?”

“Or are you just here to make a scene?”

His last words immediately set the group off.

“Who are you calling troublemakers? Don’t talk nonsense without evidence! I think you’re just looking for a beating. Calling yourself a doctor—what a joke!”

“Big brother, calm down a second. I think I’ve seen him somewhere before.”

“That’s right, big brother, now that Second Brother mentions it, I feel like I recognize him too. Isn’t this Yan Yuanqing?”

“Yes, that’s me,” Yan Yuanqing admitted without the slightest hint of humility.

“Wow, it really is him! Big brother, our little sister might still have a chance. If it really is Yan Yuanqing, maybe he can bring her back to life!”

“Have you all lost your minds? Our sister is already dead, and she’s been gone for quite some time. There’s no way she’s coming back. This guy’s nothing but a charlatan!”

“Yan Yuanqing, is it? Let me see if you’re real or not!”

As soon as he finished, the hot-tempered brother rolled up his sleeves, clearly prepared for a fight.
