Chapter 1: Transported to the Apocalypse and Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
“Who am I? Where am I? And what is this place?” Lu Li gazed blankly at the overgrown, deserted street.
Five minutes ago, she had been hit by a car while crossing the road, and when she came to, she found herself here.
The intersection looked very similar to the one where she was struck, yet it was desolate, as if no one had lived here for a long time.
Suddenly, a shadow appeared around the corner. Her eyes lit up, and she waved excitedly.
“Hi—?” The greeting caught in her throat, instantly turning into a scream, “Ahhh—!”
Lu Li spun around and ran, raising her voice to mask her fear. “Mom! How can there be zombies here?!”
[Volume detected over 100 decibels. Successfully bound to the Mobile Lottery Store system.]
Lu Li, fully focused on escaping, completely ignored the voice in her mind as adrenaline surged through her veins.
Ahead, a brand-new RV suddenly appeared, gleaming under the sun.
Zombies pursued relentlessly behind her; their claws were so long they could easily pierce the back of her head.
Without hesitation, Lu Li quickened her pace, flung open the door, stepped inside with one foot, and slammed the door shut behind her.
The sequence was seamless, as if she had rehearsed it countless times.
She collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath, muttering, “This is so real, so terrifying… this can’t be the real world, can it?”
She didn’t understand why being hit by a car would lead her to reincarnate as a wealthy heir; why bring her here instead?
[Host, welcome to the Mobile Lottery Store. The surrounding ten meters is an absolutely safe zone. No need to worry about zombies. The store offers a rich variety of tickets, redeemable instantly.]
Lottery? Scratch cards?
Lu Li was just an ordinary girl. Whenever she went to the mall, buying scratch cards was a must, even if most of them ended up as donations.
But who doesn’t dream of striking it rich overnight?
She jumped to her feet, puzzled. “Are you my system? Is this a mobile lottery store?”
In the next instant, a light screen appeared before her, displaying an introduction to this world.
After reading it, she felt as though the sky had fallen. The apocalypse had lasted ten years; resources were scarce, civilization had collapsed.
Within China, there were over a thousand bases, with the Central Base reigning supreme over numerous smaller ones.
Here, food was scarce, sleep was restless, death lurked at every moment, and humans schemed and betrayed one another…
So… her purpose here was to sell lottery tickets? Absurd.
She wished she could get hit by a car again, just to be sent back to her original world.
---
After a long while, Lu Li resigned herself to her fate.
She was adaptable by nature; since she was here, she would make the best of it. She couldn’t just run headlong into death.
Having adjusted somewhat, Lu Li began exploring the RV.
It was small but fully functional: a lonely driver’s seat, a bed at the rear, and a tiny bathroom.
That was it—no more space than that.
Lu Li couldn’t help but ask, “Where are the lottery tickets? I want scratch cards!”
Don’t ask why—it was an addiction.
The system was momentarily stunned, expecting complaints about the simplicity of the setup, but instead, it found a worthy host, wholeheartedly craving scratch cards.
[Please proceed to the right side of the door, host.]
Lu Li made her way over. On the wall beside the door was a smart control panel.
Drawing on years of smartphone experience, she fiddled with it and discovered it controlled the entire vehicle.
She pressed a button, and a section of the right side of the RV vanished, as if a window had appeared out of thin air.
Below, a table slid out parallel to the exterior, with a sunshade overhead—reminding her of an ice cream truck.
Excitedly, Lu Li ran over and asked eagerly, “Where are the tickets?”
Another light screen appeared, showing the store. Her photo was in the upper right corner, accompanied by a string of numbers: 100.
[Host, these are your initial points. You may purchase anything you need. Of course, you enjoy employee discounts.]
Lu Li was speechless. What can you buy with just a hundred points nowadays?
“So you mean I have to enter the store myself? Sell them myself?” Lu Li raised her voice, baffled.
[Yes, host. You are currently level one. Daily spending in the store cannot exceed 100 points. Looking forward to your upgrade.] The system responded unapologetically, even with a hint of pride.
Lu Li angrily scrolled through the store, arriving at the lottery section. She wanted to see how many scratch cards she could buy with 100 points.
She planned to buy them all! No food, no water—just scratch cards from dawn till dusk.
She noticed many categories were grayed out and unclickable, except for the scratch card section, which shimmered enticingly, as if beckoning her.
She found some suspiciously cheap options. One called “Big 7” contained 20 scratch cards and sold for 2 points.
But she still needed to eat and drink.
She placed an order for five “Big 7” books, spending 10 points.
---
Then she ordered five “China Fortune” scratch card books, spending another 10 points.
Today’s goal: sell them all!
Suddenly, Lu Li wondered, “Can RMB still be used in this apocalypse?”
From the information she had seen earlier, the apocalypse had replaced currency with crystal cores; RMB was now worthless.
[No, host.]
Curious, Lu Li asked, “So what do these scratch cards pay out? It can’t be crystal cores, right?”
“Can I scratch them myself?” she asked eagerly, her familiar urge for scratch cards stirring.
[No, host.]
“You heartless, cold woman!” Lu Li scolded angrily.
If the shop owner couldn’t scratch, she would have to wait for customers. She arranged the ten books she had just ordered neatly on the table.
Then, resting her chin on her hand, she zoned out while grumbling at the system, “Not even a stool to sit on. You want me to stand while selling?”
System: You have points but won’t buy! Yet you scold me! Woman!
After a while, Lu Li was nearly asleep when she suddenly heard the heavy breathing of a zombie nearby.
She snapped awake and saw a zombie about ten meters away, seemingly very interested in this place but unable to enter.
“Let it in,” Lu Li said, gathering her strength.
A white light flashed, and the ten-meter safe zone was temporarily lifted. As long as she stayed inside the RV, she was the absolute master.
The zombie staggered in, head bobbing. Lu Li found it hard to look directly at it.
One eyeball was missing; its entire right hand was severed, and it limped as it walked.
Zombies in this world were not so terrifying. They appeared to be infected humans who lost their minds and became bloodthirsty.
“Hi?” Lu Li greeted warmly—guests were guests.
She was striking and poised, a face that clearly belonged to a big businesswoman.
The zombie tilted its head in confusion, then shook it slowly—it didn’t understand a word.
Lu Li quickly opened the store and found the language section. To her astonishment, there was even a “zombie language”! How incredible!
