Chapter Fifteen: Sir, Are You Alright?
The fallen doughnut seemed to forget its pain, staring blankly at the two police officers standing beside it.
Damn it, you’re the police! I’m bleeding profusely—can’t you see that?
Yang Jie merely nodded slightly, while Li Siyu stepped forward, smiling.
“How did you two get in here?”
They immediately recounted the whole incident, explaining that a neighbor had reported it.
Li Siyu chuckled warmly. “It’s nothing serious!”
One of the officers pointed at the doughnut lying on the ground. “And he is?”
Li Siyu sneered, “A nobody without papers, just some trash who came from outside.”
Disgust flashed across one officer’s face. This was Texas, where the influx of illegal immigrants had turned everything sour. Not only were the locals unhappy, but even the police were fed up.
After all, nobody liked working multiple times harder for the same paycheck!
“You two are about to be promoted to sergeant. Prepare yourselves well!”
“Yes, Captain!”
With that, the two officers slipped away without even glancing once at the bleeding doughnut.
The doughnut was dumbfounded.
Isn’t this supposed to be a country of law and order?
My god, did I accidentally come to a fake Houston?
Yes, yes, I must’ve taken a wrong turn. I wanted to go to Houston, but ended up somewhere ugly instead. Yes, that’s it!
In that moment, the doughnut’s heart shattered completely.
And it wasn’t just the doughnut—everyone around wore expressions of shock. Even though the doughnut was bleeding heavily, the police didn’t spare it a single look. That was just too outrageous.
People knew Houston’s cops wielded immense power—governing from heaven to earth, even the air in between.
Sometimes, state and city police even clashed with each other, but this was the first time anyone had seen the city police so meek.
Big Head smiled and introduced cheerfully, “Deputy Captain Li is from the Houston City Police Department.”
Only then did everyone realize.
Yang Jie explained, “If you have some spare cash, you can donate a few thousand dollars to the local precinct. They’ll give you a sticker you can keep in your wallet.”
“When the police see that sticker during a stop, they usually won’t hassle you.”
“If you’re willing to shell out tens of thousands annually, the police chief might even give you his uniform. Hang it on your seat, and as long as you don’t commit murder in public, you can speed all you want without getting caught.”
By now, the middle-aged, well-off woman had regained her former figure, smiling brightly. “So, how much have you donated, Mr. Billionaire?”
Yang Jie pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag, indifferent. “Half a million to the Houston City Police every year, another half a million to the Houston Police Union. I’m still a volunteer cop in Houston. To be blunt, I could kill someone on the street, and as long as there’s no video evidence, who would dare arrest me?”
Everyone gasped sharply. Even those who had lived in Houston for over a decade seemed to see the city in a new light.
Big Head asked anxiously, “Those two officers are okay, right? Don’t let them betray you. Locals don’t really have a concept of integrity.”
Li Siyu smiled. “If those two rookies cause Yang Jie to stop donating next year, believe me, their bodies will turn up in a stinking ditch outside the city by tomorrow!”
Everyone was utterly stunned.
“Oh my god, this is a true big shot.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, killing in public and no one cares—could it be any more exaggerated?”
“Pfft, in Houston, you can offend anyone—even officials—but never, ever cross a wealthy person.”
Yang Jie spat contemptuously at the doughnut.
“Get lost right now. From today on, leave Houston. If I see you once, I’ll beat you once! If you want to resist, fine—I’ll send a few Mexicans your way every day to clear your drains. Let’s see how long you last!”
The doughnut didn’t even dare show a hint of hatred. Crawling outside, it dragged a long trail of blood behind it, too afraid to think of anything else.
This guy really wasn’t bluffing about shooting.
Even the police had to curry favor with him. Yes, I must hold on. Only by enduring can I find the Houston I dream of.
Watching its retreating back, Yang Jie smirked coldly. Old Bench truly was a saint, willing to take in all kinds of trash. For the homeland, this was undoubtedly a blessing!
At that moment, the door knocked again. Big Head froze—surely it wasn’t the police again.
When the door opened, three tough-looking gangsters stood there. Everyone’s faces were puzzled, unsure of what was happening.
Upon seeing only Asians inside, the three swaggered in arrogantly, wearing headscarves and heavy gold chains, looking every bit like gang members.
They kept spitting out insults.
Big Head immediately snapped, “Who let you in?”
The leader—a sausage-lipped gangster—reeking of bad breath, snarled, “Damn yellow-skinned monkeys. You shoot guns at your gatherings and let the smell of food drift over here—that’s a crime. There’s even fried chicken in the scent. You’re being racist!”
People pointed at them.
“What a ridiculous excuse.”
“I think they’re just trying to extort money!”
Yang Jie turned to Big Head. “What’s going on?”
Big Head sighed. “Seems a family went out for a trip and got killed in an accident. These three took over their house. No clue when it’ll end. They blast trashy music at night and throw trash around during the day. I’m thinking of moving!”
“Just three of them?”
“Yeah.”
Yang Jie gave Li Siyu a look. She nodded immediately. Suppressing the pungent stench, she leaned close to the leader’s ear.
“There are two kinds of things I hate most—one is racists...”
Hearing this, the leader smirked smugly, thinking that if he looked tough enough, these yellow monkeys would just hand over money and keep the peace.
“And the other is black things!”
As soon as Yang Jie finished, the three gangsters’ expressions shifted from blank to furious, all reaching for their pockets.
But Yang Jie and Li Siyu moved in unison, swiftly pulling out police badges and pinning them on.
Li Siyu’s face turned serious as she urged, “Sir, please put down your weapons and surrender. Don’t resist needlessly!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound of magazines dropping and gunfire echoed.
They spoke and shot simultaneously.
Within moments, they emptied six magazines, and the three gangsters’ weight noticeably increased.
Li Siyu immediately pressed on their veins, calling out repeatedly.
“Sir, sir, are you okay?”
Everyone was stunned.
Damn!
You beat them to pieces, even cracked their skulls open, and you still ask if they’re okay? Ha, they’re done for life!
What no one knew was that this was standard procedure for American police. As long as the process was legal, killing was justified.
Soon after, the police arrived, accompanied by medics.
