Chapter 22: Obtaining the Blueprint for Sanitary Pads
After submitting my application for the dungeon, the time reached 16:00—the hour when the highways converge once again.
Su Ya retrieved the Holy Golden Hammer, holding it in her hand as she quietly waited to see which player would be her travel companion today. It would be ideal if they could mind their own business, but if the other party harbored any ill intentions, she was prepared to see things through to the end.
Three minutes later, Su Ya stood frozen in place, utterly speechless.
"Young Master, why is it you again?"
The familiar rosy-purple supercar pulled up ahead. The window rolled down to reveal that same impossibly handsome face. Su Ya instinctively opened the door and climbed in. Before Chi Fei could even greet her, Su Ya retorted by brandishing her hammer right in his face, smiling as she asked, "Young Master, I think you owe me an explanation."
"An explanation for what?" Chi Fei sounded annoyed. He was kind enough to offer her a ride, and this girl immediately threatened him with a weapon. Who could be happy about that?
Su Ya: "Meeting for the first time could be called luck. The second time could be a coincidence. But the third time? Don't you think that’s a bit too frequent?"
Chi Fei: "I told you, I wanted to meet you."
Su Ya: "Plenty of people want to meet me, so how come no one else ever manages it, but you manage it every single day?"
Su Ya asked with genuine seriousness. Her sixth sense told her that Chi Fei’s ability to find her daily must be due to some specific reason, not just sheer luck. It could be an item like a tracking card, or perhaps a unique skill. Regardless, she had to get to the bottom of it. Otherwise, the thought that someone could find her whenever they wanted was unsettling—if they were friends, it was fine, but what if they became enemies?
Chi Fei looked at Su Ya, then glanced at the hammer in her hand, looking helpless.
"Fine, I’ll tell you." He finally compromised, revealing the truth: "My identity is 'The Great Dreamer.' My identity skill is 'Wish Fulfillment.' Whoever I want to encounter, the system automatically matches as my travel companion when the highways converge. Every day, the first chest I open is guaranteed to be monster-free, and I can open whatever I want to find inside. As for other abilities, I haven't explored them yet."
Su Ya: "Then why did you specifically want to meet me?"
Chi Fei: "Probably because I didn't want to be called a driver of an 'Android' car anymore."
Once he finished speaking, Su Ya lowered the Holy Golden Hammer but remained silent. She sat there blankly, staring straight ahead with an empty expression.
Mistaking her silence for anger, Chi Fei leaned slightly toward the passenger seat and whispered, "Are you mad? I didn't mean to keep it from you."
"I'm not mad," Su Ya replied flatly, as if trying hard to suppress her emotions.
She eventually failed, and promptly began to lose her mind.
"God damn it!!! How can you be so lucky, Young Master? You’re the luckiest of the lucky! You actually managed to roll an identity like 'Wish Fulfillment'!"
"I'm jealous! I am incredibly jealous! Do you believe that I’m going to order takeout without using my 'Inflation God Coupon' today?! Do you believe I’m going to pay full price for a cup of Deer Coffee?!"
"Young Master! If nothing else, you should apologize to me! Why are you so lucky? I’m genuinely going crazy with envy! Aaaahhhhhh!"
Su Ya was truly consumed by jealousy. She had thought her own "Get Something for Nothing" loafer identity was the ceiling for players, only to find out there were people in the world far luckier than her.
Chi Fei’s lips curled slightly as he leaned closer to her, saying gently, "Fine, I apologize. I'm sorry for being so lucky."
"It feels like you're being sarcastic," Su Ya murmured.
Her emotions had settled, and she obediently fastened her seatbelt.
Chi Fei’s smile deepened. He reached for the backpack in the backseat and pulled out a blueprint, handing it to Su Ya.
"A formal apology to our Miss Su Ya."
Su Ya had just been venting, and Chi Fei’s gesture of apology made her feel a bit embarrassed. However, after seeing the contents of the blueprint, her guilt turned into confusion.
"A sanitary pad blueprint? Young Master, where did you... did you specifically open a chest to get this?"
Chi Fei shook his head, replying, "I traded 50 portions of food with another player for it."
"Which player?" Su Ya asked.
Chi Fei: "Let me think... 'My Feelings Flow Down the River'."
"Love is sadder than not loving at all~" Su Ya instinctively finished the lyric.
Chi Fei: "..."
Su Ya had guessed the truth the moment Chi Fei mentioned the fifty portions of food; asking was just to confirm. That’s right! The player who had been competing with her for the blueprint held by "My Feelings Flow Down the River" was Chi Fei!
Chi Fei’s silence didn't stop Su Ya from acting absurd. Shaking off her previous frustration, she leaned in toward Chi Fei with a mischievous grin. "Is this just for me, or do the other sisters get one too?"
Chi Fei: "..."
Chi Fei: "Give it back if you don't want it."
As he spoke, he reached out to snatch the blueprint back from her. Su Ya pulled it back sharply, keeping it out of his reach.
Absurdity aside, she definitely couldn't afford to give up the sanitary pad blueprint. Besides, she knew full well that Chi Fei had traded fifty portions of food specifically for her. Otherwise, a man like him, with no crafting station, would have no reason to spend such a fortune on this.
"Thanks, Young Master. Your great kindness is impossible to repay, so I won't even try." With that, Su Ya tucked the blueprint away.
Chi Fei chuckled, wondering to himself why he had chosen to be friends with someone who couldn't go three sentences without making a joke.
Neither of them spoke after that. Chi Fei silently started the car and sped along the endless highway.
...
Two hours later, they had completed six hundred kilometers.
Chi Fei stopped the car. Su Ya helped him clear the monsters from the chests as usual, while he leisurely tidied up the table. Afterward, they ate dinner together.
Chi Fei was still his grumpy self, refusing to let anyone eat junk food at his table. Su Ya simply went to harass "Everyday Good Taste."
[Invincible Tyrannosaurus God: Everyday, I want to buy two portions of crystal vegetable shrimp dumplings, packed separately.]
[Everyday Good Taste: Sure, fifty basic materials will do.]
Su Ya immediately sent over 50 iron blocks. Having spent the whole afternoon working, Su Ya had plenty of basic materials. "Everyday Good Taste" sent the crystal vegetable shrimp dumplings over shortly after.
The crystal vegetable shrimp dumplings were an exquisite snack that combined beauty and flavor. The wrapper was as clear and crystalline as water, while the filling featured tender, firm, and sweet shrimp paired with finely chopped vegetables, offering a refreshing and nutritious taste.
Su Ya kept one portion for herself and gave the other to Chi Fei.
Since he had given her the blueprint, she had to return the favor. Besides, it wouldn't do for Chi Fei to skip meals or stick solely to those dessert boxes every day.
"Young Master, do me the honor of trying these. They're freshly made, not junk food!"
Chi Fei hadn't wanted to accept at first, but seeing that the dumplings actually looked appetizing, he took them.
The two finished dinner together. Before leaving, Chi Fei instructed, "Remember to sign up for tomorrow's dungeon."
Su Ya: "Already on it! I signed up ages ago."
