Chapter Forty: The Eight Dragons Sound Kill (Part Two)
If Li Chen’s three dragons were nothing more than a ragtag band of unruly mobs, then Jiang Feng’s eight-tailed dragons were seasoned warriors—disciplined, organized, forged through countless trials. The gulf between them was stark and unmistakable. Their combat prowess simply could not be compared.
Jiang Feng himself, like a fleeting shadow, weaved through the Eight Dragon Sonic Kill, effortlessly executing the twenty-fifth form of Shadow Dance Soulstep. He moved with the elusive grace of a dragon assassin whose head might be seen but whose tail never caught, casting a heavy burden upon Li Chen’s heart.
Li Chen felt worse than if he had swallowed a live fly. He had believed that wielding the secret technique of the True Dragon Scepter would ensure his victory. Yet he never imagined that this young upstart would summon eight majestic dragons without any spiritual artifacts, each radiating a purity his own three-tailed dragons could not hope to match.
Was the difference truly so vast? In a daze, Li Chen felt the sting of disappointment. He could not tolerate this boy riding roughshod over him, not only monopolizing the woman he desired but also humiliating him time and again.
His anger, like a fuse, ignited a surge in his fighting power. But it was not enough. With lightning speed, he pulled a red pill from his pocket, flexed his shoulders, and sneered, “Let me show you the power of the Fire Flood Pill.”
He swallowed it. His eyes widened, as large as bronze bells. It was as if he stood in a parade ground with drums and gongs resounding. Veins bulged on his forehead, blood rushed faster—visible to the naked eye.
“What’s happening to him?” someone asked, bewildered.
As always, answers followed questions. The spectators, though none highly cultivated, were fond of gossip and had heard much about the affairs of Wang Family Village.
“That’s the Li Family’s Fire Flood Pill. After taking it, you gain the power of a ninth-level Underworld Warrior, but it’s a dangerous pill. Once its effects wear off, you lose a level in cultivation.”
“Who’s so chatty?” Li Chen’s increased cultivation heightened his senses. These words echoed in his ears, clear as day. His eyes widened again, directing his fury at the eight dragons above the arena. He roared, “Three Dragons Emerge!”
With his roar, his once handsome and refined face twisted into ferocity and violence. Power surged through him in tumultuous waves, threatening to erupt at any moment.
The audience fell silent, holding their breath, watching intently.
Li Chen’s three true dragons, under his command, grew to twice their size, mouths agape, exhaling like arrows. It was as if their roar drowned out all other sound, leaving the spectators stunned—save for one.
Jiang Feng still darted among the Eight Dragon Sonic Kill. He saw the transformation of the three dragons but remained unperturbed, his heart as calm as still water. He knew that losing composure would only worsen the situation.
He sneered, “Competing with me in sound? Hmph, let me show you what a real sonic kill is!”
With that, the eight dragons took formation and let out a simultaneous roar. A visible sound wave surged from their mouths, instantly eclipsing the roar of Li Chen’s three dragons.
“It hurts!” Anyone below sixth-level Underworld Martial heard the sound and their faces turned deathly pale, uttering this phrase before succumbing to terror, as if their blood had been drained. It was not for any other reason but the sheer sharpness of the Eight Dragon Sonic Kill.
And this was only the sound that leaked out! The true, dreadful sound rushed straight into the ears of Li Chen’s three dragons.
Just as Jiang Feng expected, all three dragons’ faces changed. Their gaping mouths froze, suspended mid-air like petrified statues. After a moment, they huddled together, spinning in place like a top, as if they had heard the most terrifying sound in the world.
“How can this be?” Li Chen cried out in horror, desperately gathering his strength and pouring all his ninth-level Underworld Warrior power into his three dragons, shouting, “Three Dragons Rampage!”

The three dragons, faces twisted in agony, suddenly became calm. Then their facial muscles stiffened, transforming into hideous beasts, bloodied and immobilized.
“Hmph, boy, my Three Dragons Rampage has never been broken since I mastered it. I believe you won’t break it today either!”
Li Chen was strangely confident. Though Jiang Feng had suppressed him, he believed that with this move, Jiang Feng couldn’t withstand even half an hour.
For the explosion caused by Three Dragons Rampage was truly terrifying! Not only the arena, but the entire venue might be reduced to ashes.
With this thought, Li Chen’s face contorted, ink-black and twisted, a sinister smile creeping across his lips.
Roar, roar, roar!
The three true dragons emitted chaotic, indistinct sounds, bodies trembling, the sound of their bodies cracking spreading like a tide.
The spectators’ bodies tensed. They no longer cared to witness this extraordinary battle, realizing in shock that Li Chen had gone mad, intending to destroy everyone present.
Instantly, chaos erupted.
“Run! That guy’s a maniac!”
“Wait for me, don’t leave me behind!”
Moments later, the vast arena was deserted save for Wang Yingying, who stood alone, worrying for the fleeting shadow within the Eight Dragon Sonic Kill, murmuring, “Jiang Feng, you must not lose!”
“Ugh, why aren’t you running?” Jiang Feng sighed helplessly. He abandoned the Eight Dragon Sonic Kill for the moment, hurriedly used Shadow Dance Soulstep, and rushed to Wang Yingying, scooping her up and throwing her far away.
When he returned, he found only four of his eight dragons remaining.
Meanwhile, Li Chen’s arrogant voice echoed, “Ha ha, see? I told you my Three Dragons Rampage was invincible. Only one exploded, two remain, and I’ll blow up the whole venue!”
Jiang Feng stood stunned; his opponent was completely unhinged. Even the referee had quietly retreated to a safe distance.
Despite his thoughts, Jiang Feng’s eyes brightened, a hint of anticipation stirring in his heart. The battle thus far had been dull—he held the upper hand with his spells, but now he finally felt a spark of interest.
His soul energy surged, battle intent ignited within his chest.
Gradually, he felt himself detached from the arena, as if he were a spectator watching events unfold. The remaining four dragons, connected to his mind, controlled all sound within the arena.
The sounds jumbled together, each nuance flowing through his heart like water. Though invisible, he sensed them with clarity.
Suddenly enlightened, he realized this might be the realm of smooth integration.
For this reason, he decided to use his four remaining dragons for a Four Dragon Sonic Kill.
As soon as he willed it, the four dragons focused, ready to unleash devastation.
Suddenly, all sound vanished! The vast arena plunged into deadly silence, like a heavy stone pressed upon the chest.
This was because all sound had been absorbed into the bellies of the four dragons!
Jiang Feng’s body tensed to the extreme. This oppressive silence was the prelude to the killing strike.
The dragons’ eyes shone brightly, releasing their strongest light. In an instant, the once dim arena blazed, the intense light making it feel like a furnace.
Ding!

Unexpectedly, there was no thunderous roar. The four dragons let out a single crisp ding!
“Uh…”
Li Chen was stunned, as were his remaining two dragons.
“Ha ha ha!” Li Chen laughed arrogantly. He’d never seen such an amusing spell, stalling at the final strike. “Too funny! If you can’t shout, don’t try—what if you ruin your throat?”
But at that moment, a sudden change occurred!
That crisp sound heralded the unleashing of the killing move, as if some force rippled through the air, wave after wave, like falling dominoes trembling one after another.
The air trembled!
Li Chen did not mishear. He panicked, never expecting that Jiang Feng’s killing move would command the air to vibrate.
The first sound had little effect, just a single ding.
But the second sound surged like a giant wave, vast and powerful, threatening to tear eardrums.
The third sound grew louder, seeming to shatter even the senses.
…
In the blink of an eye, the tremor reached Li Chen, unleashing the final sound—a thunderous boom!
A roar!
Li Chen’s vision blurred; the entire arena twisted, heaven and earth seeming to invert. He wobbled, helpless, collapsing to the ground.
Centered on him, the tremor transformed into explosive sound. The two dragons awaiting self-detonation turned to ash, vanishing as if they had been evaporated.
The world blazed white.
Jiang Feng stood quietly, observing the grand and intricate spectacle.
“It seems Eight Dragon Sonic Kill is quite a spell. I must study it further—surely it can yield even more powerful killing moves!”
So he thought.
He was unaware that, far off, the spectators were in an uproar.
They had seen exaggeration before, but never anything so outrageous! That string of sounds had changed the very color of heaven and earth!
After the blinding white, they found themselves speechless, stunned as wooden statues.
Where was the arena? Where was the venue?
Even more bewildering, where was the street?
