Moreover, his body had suffered a tremendous blow, making it nearly impossible for him to employ his Netherforce. At present, the only technique he could rely on was the Nether Soul force within his sea of consciousness.

“You little thief!” A ferocious smile curled the corners of the black-clad stranger’s mouth, his killing intent laid bare. “How dare you show off those pitiful powers before me, the Wuming Island Lord? I’ll teach you that superior skill can crush the weak. Earthly Fiend Heavenly Wave Palm!”

As he spoke, all the Netherforce within his body surged forth like a flood bursting through a breached dam. It automatically formed the imprint of a Netherforce fist—a milky-white palm. The palm was exceedingly strange, possessing only three fingers, much like a bird’s claw. Strange runes were carved into each finger, and upon closer inspection, they formed three words: Heaven, Earth, and Wave.

Boom!

The Netherforce claw collided once more with the compressed strand of swordlike energy formed from Jiang Feng’s Nether Soul force. Jiang Feng’s power was instantly blasted apart and scattered in every direction. Yet the black-clad stranger was also shaken backward through the air, gliding several miles before finally managing to steady himself.

Plop!

In the distance, the Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent actually awoke at that very moment.

“What kind of Netherforce is this? How can its quality be so high?”

The Wuming Island Lord was stunned. Although he had expended a considerable amount of Netherforce when he hurled the Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent earlier, his Netherforce was unquestionably far superior to Jiang Feng’s. He had believed that, before his Earthly Fiend Heavenly Wave Palm, Jiang Feng’s crude technique would be utterly unable to withstand a single blow. Yet, to his dismay, he discovered that his own technique was evenly matched with that of this young man.

What he found even more difficult to accept was the purity of his opponent’s power, which far exceeded his imagination. He could not help wondering: was that really Netherforce?

From that single clash, he had already grasped how formidable Jiang Feng was. His power flowed endlessly, possessing extraordinary tenacity. Yet within that ceaseless flow lay a domineering and fierce force, as though spring had arrived while winter had yet to depart. It was vast and abundant, but also savage and overbearing—impossible to scatter no matter how fiercely he struck at it.

This was the might of Jiang Feng’s Nether Soul force: two qualities that should never have been able to coexist had been fused into a single power, and that power was incomparably pure and stable. How could it not be formidable?

“What Wuming Island Lord?” Jiang Feng roared with all his remaining strength, his voice sharp and imposing. “I am a young master of the Jiang family of Nine Crags Town. You are nothing more than a wandering cultivator, yet you dare oppose Nine Crags Town? Are you courting death?”

His Nether Soul force once again condensed within his sea of consciousness, circulating ceaselessly as he prepared to unleash another fatal strike.

“The Jiang family of Nine Crags Town?”

At those words, the Wuming Island Lord visibly paused. His expression shifted between uncertainty and apprehension, as though he had begun to fear the consequences. No matter how high a wandering Netherforce cultivator’s cultivation was, or how ruthless he might be, he could never possess enough strength to contend with the great sects and clans. And once Jiang Feng had mentioned Nine Crags Town, he could not help feeling wary of that colossal power.

He was afraid that if he killed Jiang Feng, he would be subjected to the endless pursuit of Nine Crags Town.

While the Wuming Island Lord hesitated and weighed the advantages and disadvantages, Jiang Feng, who had been secretly accumulating strength all this time, finally made his move.

“Boy, use the Myriad Manifestations and pour all your Nether Soul force into it!”

Within the sea of consciousness, Jue was equally excited. He had never imagined that the opponent would be so shaken by a single sentence from Jiang Feng that he would become apprehensive. Even his spirit had suffered a momentary imbalance.

Jiang Feng naturally refused to let such an excellent opportunity slip away. He struck with murderous intent.

His Nether Soul force erupted, transforming into the Myriad Manifestations and descending with terrifying force. Jue, within the sea of consciousness, could not help joining the attack. Although he had spent his time idly within Jiang Feng’s mind, his strength had gradually recovered. He also knew how to wield Jiang Feng’s Nether Soul force, so at this critical moment, he was certain to intervene.

However, Jue did not employ any Nether technique. Instead, he subtly manipulated the Myriad Manifestations.

Originally, the Myriad Manifestations contained both truth and illusion, substance and phantasm. But after Jue intervened, all those illusory images transformed into real blades and swords. Countless wails of ghosts and howls of spirits, countless ferocious beasts and flying birds—all became blades, swords, staffs, and clubs that covered the Wuming Island Lord from every direction.

The moment those weapons touched the Wuming Island Lord’s body, they hissed like corrosive acid, eating away at his spirit. The Wuming Island Lord immediately cried out in pain, unable to restrain a shriek.

Ever since Jue had last used this Nether Soul force, he had been secretly pondering how he should control it. He had never coveted Jiang Feng’s power, but Jiang Feng was extremely cautious with his Nether Soul force and had always been afraid to use it. Thus, Jue felt that it was necessary to study its possible applications.

At his peak, Jue’s cultivation had reached the Nether Saint realm. If he had been in his prime and placed in this world, a single strand of hair would have been enough for him to condense into a needle and kill the Wuming Island Lord in an instant.

But now, his foundation had been completely destroyed, and his Netherforce had suffered considerable losses. Even so, he had not fallen so far as to become useless. His cultivation was still roughly within the Void Nether Realm. Moreover, his control and application of power had reached perfection. His mind was also vicious and penetrating; once he struck, his methods were certain to be treacherous and deadly, leaving his opponent no chance whatsoever to evade.

He had grasped the distinctive nature of the Myriad Manifestations and used it to devise this technique.

Among his own Nether arts was one specifically designed to attack the spirit, known as Hellhunt. It was meant to corrode the spirit and suppress all Nether artifacts and Netherforce. Anyone touched by it would suffer severe injury and damage to their memories.

Even with his present cultivation merely at the Void Nether Realm, he could still cast Hellhunt through his experience and the Nether Soul force within Jiang Feng’s sea of consciousness.

Furthermore, Jue had concealed himself within the sea of consciousness and launched his attack while the Wuming Island Lord was unprepared. It was the very essence of insidiousness. Like an unparalleled assassin, he did not strike lightly—but once he did, he took his victim’s life.

“Heh heh. A mere ninth-stage Void Nether cultivator dares strut about and proclaim himself Wuming. Today, I’ll let you truly understand what it means to be without a life. Your Netherforce is quite abundant, so I’ll take it all to refine pills. They’ll be tremendously nourishing—no less effective than that Blackwater King Serpent.”

Although these words carried a hint of boastfulness, Jue spoke them sincerely. He had discovered that Jiang Feng’s cultivation was advancing too quickly. Without special pills to help stabilize his foundation, Jiang Feng would certainly become unstable, like a towering building whose foundation had not been properly laid. No matter how quickly it was constructed, it would still be a dangerous structure.

With a single strike from Jue, the Nether Soul force under his control immediately invaded the Wuming Island Lord’s power, provoking a shriek. But Jue did not pause. He rotated the force again, causing it to transform endlessly under his control. At one moment it became a water blade, then a water sword, then arrows, spears, bows and crossbows, lances, great axes, halberds, soft whips, and iron hammers…

It even transformed into ropes and demonic heads with ghostly faces.

In less than three breaths, the menacing Wuming Island Lord, who had come to kill and plunder, had been beaten senseless. He could no longer distinguish east from west. His protective Netherforce trembled on the verge of collapse, as though it might scatter at any moment.

Once his protective Netherforce dispersed, death would be inevitable. Relying on his physical body, there was only one fate for him upon the open sea. Even if no one killed him, he would drown. For a Void Nether expert, having one’s Netherforce stripped away was equivalent to losing every means of preserving one’s life. He would become a tiger without claws or fangs, utterly harmless.

During this assault, Jue displayed one astonishing technique after another. When it came to the methods and skill required to wield Nether Soul force, Jiang Feng was nowhere near his equal.

“Ah! What kind of Netherforce is this? Why is it so vicious? My mind! I don’t care about Nine Crags Town anymore. Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!”

Under the attack, the Wuming Island Lord immediately sensed his memories being damaged. His consciousness grew hazy, as though he were about to become a mindless fool.

A ninth-stage Void Nether expert possessed extremely precise control over his own mind. The moment the foreign Nether Soul force invaded, the Wuming Island Lord sensed it. He suddenly clenched his teeth and activated the strange art he had cultivated, stabilizing his injuries and blocking the invading force.

At the same time, he let out a furious roar. His Netherforce suddenly condensed throughout his body, and with a violent shock, he broke free from the encirclement. He viciously slashed two streams of Netherforce toward Jiang Feng and Jue before twisting around and fleeing into the distance.

Boom! Boom!

Jiang Feng activated the Profound Heaven Secret Art and condensed the Profound Heaven Divine Palm, smashing the incoming Netherforce apart. He was about to pursue when Jue stopped him.

“Do not pursue a desperate enemy. Besides, this man cultivates a minor demonic art known as the Earthly Fiend Heavenly Wave Palm. In a life-or-death crisis, he can sever his own life and drag his enemy down with him. However, he has been struck by the Hellhunt I released through the Nether Soul force. Sooner or later, he will become a fool. Unless an expert of the True Nether Realm or higher comes to save him, he cannot rescue himself.

“We should wait for a while, until his injuries flare up, then find his lair and wipe him out completely—uprooting the weeds and eliminating the roots. At the same time, we can seize his treasures. He is certainly a wandering cultivator from beyond the seas. To cultivate alone to the ninth stage of the Void Nether Realm, he must have encountered extraordinary opportunities and acquired rare treasures. There is no reason to leave them behind.”

“Well said. I had the same intention,” Jiang Feng replied with a nod. “Now let us collect the Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent and absorb all the Netherforce within it as quickly as possible, converting it into my own Netherforce. Then I will certainly be able to defeat that Wuming Island Lord.

“If he discovers the secret of Nether Soul force, there are countless wandering Netherforce cultivators throughout this vast Sea of Reincarnation. Once he spreads the news, I will be in grave danger.”

As he spoke, Jiang Feng flew forward. Carrying the Mountains-and-Rivers Bottle with him, he cast it down over the enormous Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent upon the surface of the sea.

Although the serpent had regained consciousness, it had plunged from an immense height into the ocean. The tremendous force its body had endured had caused it excruciating pain and inflicted grievous damage. It could not flee swiftly; it was scarcely capable of escaping even at a leisurely pace.

Jiang Feng instantly employed Infinite Devouring. However, the Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent was simply too enormous, and he had no way to consume it as he had consumed the Nine-Curved Chain-Ring Saber. He could only use the Mountains-and-Rivers Bottle to store the serpent’s Netherforce temporarily, intending to digest it himself once he had the time.

Gurgle, gurgle… gurgle, gurgle…

A stream of bubbles rose from the surface of the sea. At last, a fountain of seawater burst upward, and countless Nether beasts emerged from the waves. Every one of them stared at Jiang Feng in disbelief. None of them had imagined that, at the very place where the Scarlet-Eyed Blackwater Serpent had appeared, another person would still be present.
