As Du Yun stepped out of the door, she immediately caught sight of a group of people in matching tight-fitting combat suits gathered around the Boss, their faces cheerful, eyes eager, and carrying a hint of admiration. They appeared to be the Boss's team members.

"Boss, you're incredible! You could move through a place swarming with that many zombies without a scratch!" one team member said, his face brimming with admiration.

"That's our Boss! A hundred of you tied together couldn't match him!" another team member patted him on the head and said with a grin, obviously having complete confidence in the Boss's abilities.

"Boss, it's so good to see you!" the other members chimed in one after another, the atmosphere lively and warm, clearly full of high praise for the Boss. Even Du Yun, standing a good distance away, could feel it distinctly—let alone the team members who were right there with him.

"It's good that you're all safe." The Boss looked at his team, his eyes bright, clearly delighted. Though his face remained stern as usual, there was far less coldness in it than on ordinary days. Seeing all his team members gathered, none lost in the explosion of the Haimo, the Boss felt deeply relieved.

"Of course! Knowing you were here, Boss, we'd have crawled over if we had to!" Dazhuang said earnestly, prompting the others to burst into laughter.

"Boss, are you all right?" A tall, graceful beauty with chestnut-colored long hair stood beside the Boss, greeting him in a low, magnetic voice. Though quiet, her words were in no way drowned out by the clamor around them.

Even though there was more than one woman among the dozen or so people, Du Yun recognized her almost instantly—she was the deputy officer Lya from the communicator.

"Yeah." The Boss nodded, then said to Lya, "You did well."

"You flatter me, Boss!" Lya's face lit up at his words, her big chestnut eyes sparkling with undisguised joy.

Standing at a distance, Du Yun watched them. Though their outfits varied and their expressions differed, they somehow shared a unified aura, as if an invisible, intangible barrier stood between her and them. A faint pang of sourness stirred in her heart.

Just then, Dazhuang and Shouhou, who had been joking around with the others, spotted Du Yun. They hurriedly squeezed their way to the Boss and shot him a look indicating that Du Yun was here.

"You're awake!" The Boss saw Du Yun and immediately abandoned his team, striding quickly to her side. Perhaps because the reunion with his team had gone smoothly, the Boss was in an excellent mood. His tone as he spoke carried an extra hint of tenderness, and the corners of his eyes and brows were creased with a smile.

"Yeah, just woke up." Du Yun looked at the Boss like this, and the sourness in her heart dissipated. A smile spread across her face, set off by her rosy, freshly-awakened complexion, making her look positively delightful.

In that instant, Du Yun's mind was made up. She hadn't had the chance to be part of the Boss's past, but since they had decided to be together, walking hand in hand into the future would be enough.

While the Boss and Du Yun were exchanging tender words, the Boss's team members—except for Dazhuang and Shouhou—stared with eyes nearly popping out of their heads. Since when did the Boss smile? Since when did the Boss speak without a stern face? And that voice—so gentle it could drown a person!

"God, am I still asleep?" A dazed team member rubbed his head and his eyes, blurting out.

"This has to be an illusion—an illusion!" The others looked equally shocked, clutching their chests and staring intently at the Boss and Du Yun, hoping someone would wake them from this dream.

"Quick, tell us—what the hell is going on?" One quick-witted member knew that Dazhuang and Shouhou had been on the mission with the Boss the whole time, and immediately sidled up to them, asking slyly in hopes of scoring some firsthand gossip.

"Heh heh, it's exactly what it looks like!" Shouhou was feeling mighty pleased with himself, grinning slyly.

Seeing the looks on their faces, Du Yun could only imagine how dumbstruck she herself must have looked earlier—but watching even more people's jaws nearly drop to the floor was absolutely worth the price of admission!

"This is Du Yun. From now on, call her Sister-in-Law!" While they were all making a ruckus, the Boss had already led Du Yun to stand before the group. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, then announced to his team.

"Sister-in-Law!" "Sister-in-Law?" Every team member was stunned by the Boss's words. He'd gone out on one mission and come back with a sister-in-law in tow—leave it to the Boss, his efficiency was simply off the charts.

Du Yun, faced with this crowd of tall, burly team members all calling her "Sister-in-Law," felt her face flush hot in an instant. She and the Boss had only just started to feel something for each other, and now they were directly jumping to "Sister-in-Law"? Wasn't that a bit too fast?

"Hello, everyone." Though she felt it was a little rushed and felt rather shy, Du Yun greeted them all with poise.

"Hello, Sister-in-Law!" A resounding, unified chorus rang out as if she were reviewing troops, echoing through the entire hall of the underground bunker and sending a jolt through Du Yun.

"Little rascals, watch your manners!" Seeing Du Yun's face go slightly pale, the Boss hurriedly patted her hand to soothe her, then turned around to scold his team.

"Yes, Boss!" The team members snapped to attention and answered in unison. Watching the Boss gaze at the sister-in-law with such tender concern, they couldn't help nudging each other and exchanging amused looks, their laughter barely contained. This version of the Boss was so rare—absolutely hilarious!

Du Yun watched the interaction between the Boss and his team, and the corners of her lips inadvertently curved upward. The Boss might seem fierce, but from the way he bantered with his team, it was plain to see how close they were.

Since they were so close, she would have to work hard to earn their approval too, Du Yun thought cheerfully, already beginning to secretly paint a picture of the future for herself and the Boss.

Suddenly, Du Yun felt as though someone was staring intently at her. Following the direction of the gaze, she saw Lya, in her graceful combat suit, looking straight at her with a complex expression—admiration, envy, bewilderment, and a hint of hostility.

"Tsk, I knew that handsome face of the Boss's would cause trouble. See? An enemy in love has already shown up!" Dou Zhi's cool, sardonic voice echoed in Du Yun's mind. But Du Yun knew he was telling the truth—Lya might very well be a rival in love, and she would need to be on her guard.
