Chapter 75: Two Quasi-Immortal Beings
“This path is closed. Please seek another way,” Xieming said coldly, not showing a hint of kindness.
Ouyang Lianfeng stepped forward from his ranks, speaking with indifference, “I am an old acquaintance of Ling Ji Ziyang. I have brought my forces to prevent others from bullying the people of our Kongjue Sacred Land. If they were here, I believe they would give me some respect. You two should step aside and let us pass!”
His tone betrayed his pride. As the Lord of Kongjue Sacred Land, his cultivation was nearing the threshold of Immortal. He looked down on the two supremes before him without concern.
“Heh, the two of us are certainly not your old friends!” Suddenly, a cold laugh echoed from above. Two beams of light descended; before the grand array stood Supreme Ling Ji and Supreme Ziyang themselves!
Xieming and Supreme Hongxi, seeing their own lords arrive, immediately stepped forward, their hearts eased of the heavy burden they had carried.
“My friend, what are you saying? It’s been so long since we last met!” Ouyang Lianfeng said, “Previously, two supremes from our Kongjue Sacred Land perished in your Southern Yi. That’s why we launched this holy war—to seek vengeance for those who harmed them. I trust you both, being wise and benevolent, will not object!”
He was shamelessly flattering Ling Ji and Ziyang.
Ling Ji’s expression darkened. “Don’t try to forge connections!”
Ziyang spoke with even less regard, “I advise you to kneel now, abolish your own cultivation, and confess your crime. Perhaps that way, you could leave your Sacred Land a sliver of hope.”
Ouyang Lianfeng’s narrow eyes squinted. “Could it be that the one who harmed our two supremes is known to you, or perhaps close to you?” he demanded loudly.
In truth, Ouyang Lianfeng’s mind was as clear as a mirror. There was no one in Southern Yi who could unite two great sacred lands to oppose Kongjue. Their actions surely stemmed from unwillingness to return the treasures taken from his sacred land!
At this point, Ouyang Lianfeng could no longer suppress his murderous intent. If he wanted to retrieve the immortal artifact belonging to Kongjue Sacred Land, he would have to eliminate them as well!
“You are beyond redemption! Such disrespect to a senior—if we annihilate Kongjue today, you cannot blame us!”
“Ouyang Lianfeng, I don’t care what your motives are—whether to seize the immortal artifact or ascend to the Immortal Platform—but what you should never have done is use the excuse of attacking a senior for your war! You deserve death!”
The Lords of Ling Ji and Ziyang both rebuked him sternly.
“Your crime is intolerable to the world!”
Ouyang Lianfeng shuddered under their severe chastisement.
What did these two just say? Senior? Someone whom two lords would address as senior—what kind of person could that be? Was there some ancient being in Southern Yi, hidden for millions of years?
He wondered, but only for a moment. The holy war had already begun; no one could stop them now!
“Are you two here to tell jokes? You think you can destroy Kongjue Sacred Land? Hahaha, just the likes of you?” Ouyang Lianfeng released his aura as he spoke.
The pressure of a near-immortal instantly weighed down upon the people of Ziyan Sacred Land and Jixing Sacred Land.
The Lords of Ziyang and Ling Ji felt the force of this oppressive power.
“No wonder you are desperate to seize those two immortal artifacts—you are nearly at the threshold of immortal!”
“Hahaha!” Ouyang Lianfeng rose into the air, surveying all before him. “I don’t think there’s anyone left in the Tianwu Realm who can challenge me!”
“How ignorant!” Ling Ji shook his head where he stood, his voice soft.
Before Ouyang Lianfeng could retort, Ling Ji unleashed his own aura. Immediately, Ouyang Lianfeng’s power was suppressed, vanishing as quickly as it had appeared.
“Impossible!” Ouyang Lianfeng was stunned, his voice filled with disbelief.
“Quasi-immortal!” he gasped.
“Exactly! Thanks to the senior’s assistance, I am now a quasi-immortal,” Lord Ling Ji said coldly.
Ziyang released his own aura. “And let me tell you, I am the same as Ling Ji—quasi-immortal!”
Their formidable energies pressed down upon Ouyang Lianfeng. He could not withstand such terrifying might, and was forced to retreat several steps.
Behind him, his holy war army fell into disarray.
Quasi-immortal—not just one, but two!
This was not the Immortal Realm, where immortals walked everywhere.
A quasi-immortal could dominate the Tianwu Realm, and none would dare utter a word against them.
Ouyang Lianfeng believed that, with his rising power, there could be no rival in the Tianwu Realm. Yet, upon arriving in Southern Yi, two quasi-immortals had appeared against him!
It was terrifying.
“Impossible! I refuse to believe it! You cannot be quasi-immortals!” Ouyang Lianfeng could not accept it. He had schemed his way from the Central Continent to Southern Yi, only to encounter such adversaries at the outset.
He considered himself the strongest among all—Southern Yi, a place so weak compared to the mighty Central Continent, should never have produced quasi-immortals.
Just the thought made him miserable.
Suddenly, Ouyang Lianfeng recalled that these two had said it was all thanks to a senior.
He trembled all over.
He did not even dare question whether such a senior existed; these two had no reason to deceive him.
To make two supremes into two quasi-immortals—what manner of being could that be?
Could it be… an immortal?
If so, it would be truly terrifying. Kongjue Sacred Land would have met its match.
But how could an immortal exist in the Tianwu Realm? It was simply unbelievable.
“Ruofeng and Huanyue are now disciples of the senior,” Supreme Ziyang looked at Ouyang Lianfeng and spoke.
“The two ladies have gained such fortune, and we are full of envy! When they have mastered their arts, even a casual blessing upon Kongjue Sacred Land would be a great boon. Yet you dare try to capture them!”
“It’s simply turning things upside down!”
“To ruin the future of a sect and show disrespect to a senior—such arrogance deserves death!”
