Chapter 134: Slaying an Immortal
"Hah, you think such a formation can stop me? How arrogant!"
The young man in the white robe merely flicked his sleeve, and an overwhelming aura of celestial energy erupted, causing the protective formation of the Jixing Sacred Land to tremble violently. In the blink of an eye, it collapsed with a thunderous roar.
Seeing the young man wield such terrifying power, Lingji and Ziyang both gasped in shock.
"He is actually at the level of an Immortal!" Lingji whispered, his voice trembling.
"Who on earth is he? Could he be with those other True Immortals?" Ziyang’s mind raced with apprehension.
By now, the arrogant youth had completely dismantled the Sacred Land’s defenses. He descended slowly, appearing in a flash directly before Ziyang and Lingji.
"It seems you lot are the strongest ones here," he remarked, casting a disdainful glance at them. "Speak. Where is the demonic cultivator Ming Yexin? Tell me now, and I might just spare your lives."
"I have no idea what demonic cultivator you are talking about," Holy Master Lingji replied in a low, strained voice. "You have destroyed our sect’s formation without a word; isn't this bullying us a bit too far?"
"Bullying? You aren't even Immortals yourselves. Do you really think you are worthy of being bullied by me?"
The white-robed youth scoffed at the very notion. He flicked his hand, and Lingji felt a sharp, piercing pain in his chest, forcing a mouthful of blood to erupt from his lips. In an instant, the Holy Master was severely wounded. The chasm between an Immortal and a quasi-Immortal was truly insurmountable.
"That is too much!" Leng Qianxue rushed forward to steady Lingji. "Who are you, and what is your purpose in coming to the Jixing Sacred Land?"
Holy Master Ziyang also spoke in a grave, defensive tone, but before he could finish, the youth let out a cold snort and lashed out with a slap. Even with Ziyang’s quasi-Immortal cultivation, he could not dodge the blow. He was sent flying, crashing onto the stone steps with a booming thud.
"Argh!" Ziyang let out a pained cry.
"From now on, if I hear a single word I don’t like, I will kill one of you!"
An Yue'er could no longer hold back her fury. She stepped forward, her eyes blazing. "Just a lowly Immortal, and you think you can run wild in the Tianwu Realm?"
"Oh? Looking to die, are you?" The youth sneered, spiritual energy gathering in his hand. Suddenly, his gaze sharpened as he caught sight of the hairpin tucked into An Yue'er's hair. "I never expected such a treasure to exist in this backwater world. How marvelous!"
The hairpin intrigued him. "It seems this trip was worth it after all! How else would I have found such a prize? Hand it over!" He reached out greedily toward her.
With a face full of cold rage, An Yue'er pulled the hairpin from her hair and slashed it toward the youth. A shrill scream tore through the air.
"Ah!"
The youth’s hand had been severed. Blood sprayed like a fountain.
"This... this is impossible! My gauntlet is forged from Profound Immortal-grade armor! This shouldn't be happening..." The youth stared at his stump in disbelief. Before descending, the Heaven Soul Sect had armed him to the teeth, knowing he might encounter Ming Yexin, who was rumored to be at the Profound Immortal level. He was equipped with gear meant to withstand even higher-tier attacks. Yet, a simple wooden hairpin had sliced through the Profound Immortal-grade armor as if it were paper, severing his limb.
Panic seized him. This was not the outcome he had envisioned.
"Do you think you’re so mighty?" An Yue'er said, her every word dripping with ice. "A mere Immortal acting so cocky—do you really think you’re invincible? Let this be the price for your arrogance!"
The youth, ignoring his agony, twisted his face in fury. How could he be compared to these ants? Could this tiny Tianwu Realm compare to the Immortal World? This ant was insulting him!
"I am an Immortal! We are worlds apart!" the youth shrieked. "I come from the Immortal World; how dare you humiliate me? Die!"
He pulled out a small jade tablet, which contained a terrifying, concentrated power. It was his final trump card from the Soul-Searching Sect, strong enough to contend with even a Profound Immortal. He unleashed the energy toward An Yue'er, causing the very space to shudder and the mountains to groan. It was far more ferocious than the power displayed by the two True Immortals who had appeared earlier. The cultivators of the Jixing Sacred Land were paralyzed with terror.
An Yue'er, however, remained calm. Seeing the youth’s desperate attack, she merely shook her head and sneered, "Ignorant."
With a single flick, she channeled her spiritual power into the hairpin and swung it once more. Instantly, the terrifying energy dissipated into nothingness. The white-robed youth stood frozen, his eyes wide, before his body split neatly in two. He drew his final breath and collapsed, dead.
Silence fell over the scene. Lingji and Ziyang stood with mouths agape, unable to utter a sound. They had seen Leng Qianxue use the hairpin before to slay two quasi-Immortals, but this was on another level. They now understood that this hairpin was far more powerful than any standard Immortal artifact.
As the youth died, a faint green light emerged from his body and shot toward the sky.
"What is that?" Ziyang asked, startled. "Could it be a tracking mark left by someone even more powerful?"
"Could there be a greater master behind him?" Lingji wiped the blood from his lips and watched the green light vanish into the distance. "He said he came from the Immortal World... I fear that was the truth."
