“Boss, I just found a popular dessert shop nearby. Let’s go try it,” Little Red said, fluttering about in the air, trying to stop Hua Ying from moving forward.

“There’s also your favorite hotpot,” she added eagerly.

“Miss Bai even sent a private plane to Haishi to get the trending green rice balls. You can eat them as soon as you get home,” she continued.

Seeing Hua Ying ignore her completely, Little Red’s heart sank and her shoulders slumped in defeat.

Help! This is so difficult!

Could it be that Hua Ying really intends to buy things from the black market?

The more Little Red thought about it, the angrier she became. She turned and shot Mu Jinnian a glare. It was all his fault.

Why insist on going to the black market? Why not just go to a night market?

Unexpectedly, Mu Jinnian suddenly looked over. His cold, piercing gaze startled her.

She quickly hid behind Hua Ying and awkwardly smiled once she realized it was pointless.

Wait, why hide? He can’t even see her!

“This is the entrance to the black market,” Mu Jinnian said, stopping in his tracks and frowning slightly, though maintaining a calm expression.

Was it just his imagination? He felt an inexplicable gaze nearby.

“I’ve already found out where you can buy what you want. Follow me,” Mu Jinnian said, placing a skull mask on Hua Ying before leading the way.

Even with masks, their youthful appearances still attracted quite a few glances.

“Boss, do you have these items?” Hua Ying tossed over a shopping list.

The boss’s smiling face froze for a moment. He looked up and openly scanned the newcomers up and down.

With a half-smile, he said, “Kids, this isn’t a place for you.”

“You just need to tell me if you have what I want,” Hua Ying frowned in displeasure, her eyes cold and unreadable.

The boss stiffened, feeling increasingly uneasy.

He had seen many people before, but never eyes like these—void of human emotion.

Interesting!

“My apologies for overstepping,” the boss recovered. “We have some of the items, but we only accept cash.”

“We know the rules,” Mu Jinnian stepped forward and pulled out some cash from his backpack.

The boss nodded in satisfaction and quoted a price.

As long as the money was right, nothing else mattered.

“Do you know where I can get the other items?” Hua Ying asked just as the boss’s expression changed.

But he quickly masked it and waved a hand dismissively.

“No idea. Those sorts of things are hard to get even on the black market.”

“Boss, you do know, don’t you?” Hua Ying’s voice was faint, as if coming from afar, her dark pupils deep and mesmerizing.

The boss looked dazed and tilted his head in confusion.

Unknowingly, he said, “I do know. If you go to the end of this street, there’s a shop with no sign that sells them.”

“Why did you lie earlier?” Hua Ying asked calmly.

“That shop’s owner is dangerous. If you go there, I’m afraid you won’t come out unscathed,” the boss said, frowning with discomfort.

“Though I’m no good person, I can’t just watch kids like you walk to your deaths,” he added.

Hua Ying tugged at the corner of her mouth and snapped her fingers.

The boss suddenly snapped out of it, looking around in a daze.

He only saw Hua Ying’s retreating figure, his mind stirring with suspicion.

How familiar does this boss’s demeanor seem? Little Red whispered softly, pondering for a while before suddenly remembering.

“This is hypnosis, isn’t it? You need a hundred points to redeem it—how can you use it?”

“My total points now are only a dozen or so,” Hua Ying didn’t respond, and Little Red dared not press further, pushing down her doubts.

“You heard what the boss said. You should leave first.”

At the entrance, Hua Ying stopped.

“I’m not afraid. I’ll go with you,” Mu Jinnian said firmly, his eyes unwavering.

“No need,” Hua Ying refused again, her gaze flickering to a nearby corner.

Her tone deepened: “Leave quickly.”

Mu Jinnian wanted to say something but saw her expression turn cold and felt a wave of helplessness.

He lowered his head and said, “Alright, I’ll leave now.”

He looked exactly like a dog denied a bone.

If he had a tail, it would probably be drooping.

Realizing what he was thinking, Hua Ying’s lips curled slightly.

She thought of a dog she once had.

She reached out and lightly touched Mu Jinnian’s head.

His face lit up with delight and expectation.

But in the end, she didn’t change her mind.

Resigned, he turned and left.

Unfortunately, that dog...

Hua Ying’s expression hardened as she stepped into the unknown ahead.

“Boss, someone’s following us,” Little Red finally reacted, her face anxious.

“They don’t seem friendly. They mean us harm.”

“You just noticed?” Hua Ying’s face remained calm, making Little Red feel she was overreacting.

This was a boss among bosses—someone who had single-handedly created a post-apocalyptic society in the interstellar world.

What could a small modern society possibly do to her?

Little Red finally relaxed.

But then she thought, what if this boss intends to do something?

She wouldn’t be able to stop her!

Little Red felt like crying again.

“Little Red...” Hua Ying called softly.

“Here,” Little Red snapped to attention.

Hua Ying said nothing more but kept murmuring to herself.

What was this boss up to now?

“Boss, can you please not call me Little Red? It’s so embarrassing,” she said, something she had wanted to tell the boss for a long time.

“I’m the most popular monkey on the mountain, and I’m hungry. Exchange some food for me,” Hua Ying said expressionless.

Little Red’s toes curled awkwardly.

She struggled to say a few words.

“Forget it. Just call me Little Red.”

All she could think now was regret.

So much regret.

Why had she set her online name like that?

Who knew why her name in the Heavenly Judgment Bureau after death would turn into her online handle?

Was that even normal?

Hua Ying’s shopping went surprisingly smoothly.

There was only an old man in the shop.

Upon seeing Hua Ying’s list, he merely said, “We have stock,” and handed over the items.

After taking the money, he let her leave without a word.

Nothing like what the other boss had said earlier.

Little Red didn’t sense any danger.

She looked at Hua Ying with a conflicted expression.

Finally, she gathered courage and spoke, “Boss, can I redeem a rename card with points? I want to change my name.”

She really couldn’t take it anymore.

“I don’t have many points, just fifty,” she said, blushing slightly.

After all, she had only earned less than twenty points for a long time.

“Fine,” Hua Ying’s tone remained icy.

Little Red was thrilled, hardly believing her ears.

“Really? Really?” She spun around, almost ready to celebrate.

Glancing at Hua Ying’s profile, her eyes softened.

Actually, the boss was quite approachable.

She leaned in and kissed Hua Ying’s cheek.

Hua Ying stiffened instantly.

“What are you doing?” she growled, her tone hard to classify as anger or something else.

“I...” Little Red regretted her impulsiveness.

But it was too late.

Just as she was about to explain, Hua Ying suddenly collapsed and went still.

Little Red was terrified.

“Boss, boss, what’s wrong?”
