Chapter 28: The Dragon Slayer Eventually Becomes the Dragon
"What? Principal Wang is a runaway?"
"That can't be right, can it? He hates it when we do anything other than study."
"Then what is this broadcast about?"
"..."
The murmurs within the dormitory building grew louder. Something inside the school seemed to be gradually awakening.
Principal Wang’s expression turned increasingly ugly; he gnashed his teeth, clearly wishing he could tear the person inside the broadcasting room to shreds.
He ignored the Baili Dao beneath his feet.
He twisted the white ring on his finger.
No matter who the person was, once he got over there and crushed them, nothing significant could happen in this school.
*Whoosh—*
A breeze brushed past.
Principal Wang’s ferocious expression froze.
He was still at the teaching building!
"How can this be! Did the ring fail?" Principal Wang turned the white ring again, unable to believe it.
But no matter how he twisted it, aside from the slight pressure on his finger and the pain of the too-tight band chafing his skin, nothing happened.
One had to know that this ring stored the supreme aura of that existence!
Could it be that the person in the broadcasting room had achieved in a single night what he had dreamed of for decades?
Had the other party absorbed that aura!?
Principal Wang refused to believe such an absurd thing; he convinced himself that the intruder must have used some method to block the connection between the ring and the aura.
With that thought, he began to stride forward.
His mountain-sized body began to run clumsily toward the Art Building from outside the teaching block.
Perhaps because he had never engaged in such strenuous exercise since possessing the ring, Principal Wang’s running posture looked somewhat ridiculous, even like a child who had just learned to run.
The campus continued to echo with the other person’s mocking voice—
"Thirty years ago, during the 50th-anniversary celebration of Gaoshan High School, you took advantage of the rare day when the entire faculty and student body were relaxing to hide in the Art Building’s broadcasting room."
"You attempted to wait until the dead of night after the celebration to climb over the rear fence and escape. You had even researched the security guards' patrol routes in advance, finding a ten-minute gap to avoid being caught."
"To that end, you even bribed the school doctor to get a sick note so your homeroom teacher would think you were resting in the infirmary that night."
"Not a single classmate knew of your escape plan, because you didn't trust anyone."
"But who would have thought that just when everything was ready, just as you were one step away from freedom..."
"The broadcast came on."
Hearing his past experiences being exposed bit by bit, a look of loathing appeared on the sweat-drenched face of Principal Wang.
How did this guy know more about what happened back then than he did?
Is this "doxing," he wondered?
He admitted that these things had happened.
But so what?
If he hadn't happened to hear that broadcast and listen to the whisperings of that existence, how could he have obtained everything he had today?
In the broadcasting room, Wu Wang flipped through the journal, explaining slowly while his eyes flickered toward the two little fat boys.
The two had tried to strangle each other from the moment they met.
It was then that he understood why Principal Wang was so worried about the corpse from the "Little Black Room" returning to the Art Building.
Because Liu Yang, having returned to normal, could hold down both little fat boys without the slightest effort.
Especially the one in the form of a malevolent ghost.
No matter how many tricks he had, he couldn't cause even a shred of damage to Liu Yang.
"Let me guess, the little fat boy in the Art Building is your human side, and the ghost little fat boy is your obsession with skipping school. But I don't understand why he holds such great hostility toward students entering the Art Building?" Wu Wang spoke into the air, addressing Principal Wang.
Logically, someone who skipped school should be on the students' side, right?
Then why was the other party constantly attacking him?
Principal Wang did not reply. He only gnashed his teeth and hurried toward the Art Building.
Unexpectedly, the human-side fat boy held down by Liu Yang spoke up tremulously.
"I... I remember now."
Wu Wang crossed his legs. "Tell me more."
The fat boy looked miserable. "Because he... no, it should be me, I really hated my classmates. They mocked my obesity, a side effect of the psychiatric medication I took for years. They ridiculed my mediocre grades and even kicked and punched me."
"I was at the very bottom of the class."
Hearing this, Wu Wang suddenly realized.
Yes, how could he have forgotten the most common occurrence in schools?
Bullying...
Looking at the human-side fat boy, it was clear that when Principal Wang was a student, he must have been a timid little fat boy, bullied by others and afraid to fight back.
Coupled with the high-pressure environment of Gaoshan High, where management wasn't as strict back then, students found ways to vent their repression.
They bullied those who were weaker.
Therefore, the ghost little fat boy was not just an obsession with skipping school; he represented Principal Wang’s hatred for the entire system and existence of Gaoshan High.
No wonder Principal Wang wouldn't let him leave the Art Building.
If that guy got out, it would be equal-opportunity destruction—killing everyone.
Thinking of this, Wu Wang turned to the microphone and broadcasted to the whole school: "Principal Wang, since you know what kind of repression such high pressure brings, and even you chose to run away back then, why have you returned to become the oppressor?"
You were rained on once, so now you want to tear up everyone else's umbrellas?
This mental state is even more abnormal than mine.
This time, Principal Wang replied.
He cursed viciously: "So what if I ran away? Gaoshan High is a damn cage, but isn't the outside world one too? Ordinary people can never break free from the shackles imposed by society!"
"That’s why I came back."
"Since the outside is just a bigger cage, it’s better to make the students of Gaoshan High stronger before they even come into contact with the outside world! Give them a higher starting point! Make it easier for them to stand at the top of society in the future!"
"That way, they won't be bullied by anyone..."
With that, he was almost at the Art Building.
This radical statement made Wu Wang look at him in a new light.
He hadn't expected this guy to be so righteous.
Even if it was a self-righteous sort of justice.
But he was truly taking action for his beliefs; it was just that his methods were too twisted.
For example, there really was no bullying at Gaoshan High now, because everyone had no energy to think about anything other than studying;
The students who left really did enter top universities, becoming elites in the eyes of others, only they were abnormally cold and cared for nothing but success—family, friendship, and love were worthless in their eyes;
Gaoshan High's reputation was increasingly well-known, and one could see from the instance description just how much parents wanted their children to get in.
But what about the students' own feelings?
In Principal Wang's view, that was not important at all.
He didn't need students to possess freedom, thoughts, or emotions—all of which he considered human flaws.
All he needed was for these students to succeed.
Noticing that Wu Wang had stopped questioning him, Principal Wang couldn't help but show a proud smile; he knew his ideas were correct.
The other party had no way to refute!
Yet, unexpectedly, a moment later, Wu Wang’s voice came through the broadcast again—
"Your methods are indeed effective."
"Because you bribed the school doctor and studied the patrol paths of the security guards. So, after you became principal, the doctor became a machine that only acted by protocol and would never betray you; the guards became tireless ghosts that could patrol forever; and Gaoshan High became an airtight fortress."
"But, that has now become your downfall."
Wu Wang suddenly raised his voice and shouted: "Security guards and school doctor of Gaoshan High, listen up! There is a fat deadbeat near the Art Building trying to escape the school! Catch him and drag him back to the teaching building!"
He had figured it out.
Since both of them had become unthinking monsters, they wouldn't care who the principal was.
They only followed orders.
The broadcasting room was usually Principal Wang’s personal space.
Therefore, what was issued from here was the highest command!
"How dare you!" Principal Wang roared in anger.
But the deafening sounds around him drowned out his roar.
All the doctors and security guards in the school were rushing in this direction; their powerful, ghost-like forms caused the ground to shake like a landslide.
Even though Wu Wang was in the broadcasting room on the third floor of the Art Building, he could hear the sound of the sky collapsing outside.
Various parts of the school fell into an unprecedented period of silence; there were no security guards patrolling or standing guard.
A familiar, crazed expression appeared on his face again. He leaned toward the microphone and slowly spoke words that made Principal Wang’s blood run cold.
"Your perspective is too narrow."
"Running away is too cowardly. Since the problem is right here, what’s the point of you running away alone?"
"I want to do something you never thought of, something the students wouldn't even dare to hope for."
Saying this, Wu Wang paused.
Then, with the loudest volume possible, he shouted to the entire school, word by word: "All students of Gaoshan High!"
"Listen to me! From this moment on—"
"School’s out!"
