Chapter 43: He Has Come
Sensing something, the little baby in her arms squeezed Tang Miao's hand and looked up, babbling, "Aba..."
He was coming.
Her mother had told her to let that little boy know that if his stomach hurt too much and became unbearable, he should come find them, because they had a way to help.
And now, that little boy had said he and his dad were on their way and would meet them very soon.
Yet, for some reason, the closer the little boy got, the more uncomfortable and distressed the baby felt.
Tang Miao stroked the top of the baby's head, soothing her while saying to Li Wu, "Bring the people I selected yesterday. We're setting off back to the farm right now."
"No!" Lin悦 blurted out. "I—I mean, I still want to see my former companions one last time."
She covertly observed the situation downstairs; the positions and number of the people in charge remained unchanged.
Leaving right now was too early. Li Yong's setup might not be complete yet, and if they left now, her and Song Mingchen's plan would fall through.
"Then... should I accompany you to take a look at them before we leave?"
Lin悦's eyes flickered. "Okay, thank you, Tang Miao!"
This played right into her hands. Only when Tang Miao left this building would the refugees in the safe zone have a better opportunity to make a move on her.
Right at that moment, someone came upstairs and whispered a warning into Li Wu's ear:
"An explosion happened over at the farm. It's too far to see clearly, but we heard four loud bangs. Could someone else have beaten us to it and tried to seize the farm?"
Though the voice was quiet, Tang Miao heard it clearly.
She frowned slightly. Could her deduction have been wrong? Did Song Mingchen really make a move?
The safe zone was about twenty kilometers away from the farm, and Tang Miao's mental perception couldn't reach that far yet, so she had no idea what the current situation at the farm was.
Li Wu grew restless. If someone really was making a move on the farm, there was no point in them going back at all, was there? Wouldn't it be easier to just deal with Tang Miao right here and now?
Seeing this, Lin悦 assumed that Li Yong had completed his setup and notified Li Wu to take action, so she pulled Tang Miao, urging her to go downstairs.
Li Wu also tilted his head. "Boss Tang, how about we head straight to the farm now?"
"Go to hell, all of you get down there."
Li Wu whipped his head around. "L—Boss, why are you here? An'an's stomach isn't feeling well, aren't you going to stay with him?"
Li Yong glared at him, his tone impatient. "Can't you see what I'm holding in my arms? Get down there right now, and take Lin悦 with you."
"Yes, yes, yes."
Li Wu did not drag his feet, and soon only four people were left on the second floor.
Li Yong called Tang Miao and the baby into a room and placed the person wrapped in a blanket on the bed.
Li An'an looked to be about five years old. His small face was as pale as paper, his forehead was covered in a dense layer of cold sweat, and his breathing was rapid.
At that moment, the baby was grinding her teeth audibly. *Mom hurts so much, I hurt so much, I want to bite something.*
The baby's gaze inched toward Li Yong, only for Tang Miao to cover her eyes the next second.
"I've completely run out of options. This is the first time he's shown symptoms like this, and from last night until now, it's only gotten worse."
The sharp edge Li Yong once had in front of Tang Miao had completely vanished, replaced by a hint of pleading as he looked again at the baby in Tang Miao's arms.
"There seems to be some kind of special connection between my son and your daughter. When he was conscious, he said he wanted to come find you."
Tang Miao stopped her purification, intensified her soothing efforts toward the baby, and then took hold of Li An'an's icy little hand.
"How is my son?"
"Your son has no organs in his abdominal cavity, and this body should have been dead for a very long time. You need to tell me the truth."
