Volume One: The Planet of Ten Thousand Beasts Chapter 3: The Counterattack (Part One)
The woman had no energy left even to accuse him of being a jinx; with both front and rear blocked, there was no choice but to fight desperately. Yet the problem was that the patch of jagged rocks was too small, and the stones weren’t tall enough. Their chances of survival were severely limited.
Since the enemy had dispatched an armored vehicle, it was certain the roof would be equipped with a Gatling gun, likely supported by one or two rocket launchers. Under such a hailstorm of metal firepower, escape was impossible.
“Don’t you ever go out unarmed? What’s in your backpack?” Li Juxu considered the only variable—the backpack.
“A few changes of clothes,” the woman replied lightly.
Li Juxu froze. He held the zipper for a full three seconds before pulling it down. Inside were camisoles, short skirts, stockings—intimate garments in a riot of colors, sensuous and alluring. Nothing else. Reluctantly, he checked three times; it was just clothes, simple and ordinary, except that the lingerie was expensive, made from soft, high-end fabrics, brands ordinary people couldn’t afford.
“So you’re a pawn too?” Li Juxu tossed the backpack back to her. This was clearly a decoy to draw fire; the real valuables had likely been moved along another route.
“We’re different,” she said calmly, hoisting the backpack onto her shoulders. Truth be told, that bag was made for her. Without it, she was a voluptuous and fiery woman; with it, she transformed into a cute, spirited girl—rebellious, yearning for freedom like the wind. Li Juxu realized for the first time that a simple backpack could alter a person’s aura.
“What’s different?” Though the woman was stunning and he never tired of looking at her, Li Juxu’s anger left no room for admiration.
“I chose this,” she said.
Li Juxu’s lips twitched in disbelief.
“1100 meters!” The woman’s eyes never left the extended scope. Suddenly, she jerked her hand back just as a bullet struck the rock, chipping off a piece the size of a human head.
“I want you to draw the sniper’s attention!” Li Juxu’s gaze turned icy. Without hesitation, the woman removed her helmet and extended her head beyond the rocks for less than three seconds before two bullet holes appeared in it.
Li Juxu peeked out, raised his gun, aimed, and fired in one fluid motion, then ducked back behind the rocks. A second later, two bullets whizzed past where he’d been squatting, striking a nearby boulder and leaving two bowl-sized craters.
“One down!” The woman could clearly see through the shattered lens—a clean headshot on a man carrying a rocket launcher. Such marksmanship was no ordinary sniper’s skill.
“The sniper is closing in. I need you to find their positions.” Li Juxu showed no pride. As long as the snipers were alive, death was imminent. Even if all other enemies fell, they wouldn’t be safe while the snipers remained.
The woman continued to bait the snipers with her helmet. Though they knew the ruse, they still fired. Li Juxu seized the chance to kill an enemy with a submachine gun.I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
